FAITH NO MORE, SCORPIONS, SLASH, PIERCE THE VEIL and SIMPLE PLAN are among the latest additions to Norway’s huge rock and metal gathering, with the festival now revealing its day-by-day line-up.
Tons of Rock 2027 is getting bigger, and its latest announcement brings two major names making their festival debuts alongside a mix of rock veterans, punk favourites and heavier underground talent. Fourteen new acts have been added to the bill, with FAITH NO MORE and SCORPIONS among the biggest talking points.
FAITH NO MORE’S appearance is particularly exciting. The band helped push alternative metal into unexpected territory by blending heavy riffs with funk, hip-hop and a distinctly unpredictable edge. After a lengthy absence from live performance, their planned 2027 shows are limited, making their appearance at Oslo’s Ekebergsletta a major draw for fans.
SCORPIONS bring a different kind of firepower. With decades of arena-sized anthems behind them, the German rock legends finally make their Tons of Rock debut, joining Judas Priest at the top of Saturday’s bill. Expect plenty of familiar choruses, from “Rock You Like a Hurricane” to “Still Loving You”.
There is more than nostalgia on offer, though. SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS add heavyweight guitar rock to Friday, while PIERCE THE VEIL are set to make their first-ever appearance in Norway. The latter’s rise from post-hardcore favourites to a major name with a new generation of fans gives the announcement a welcome contemporary edge.
Elsewhere, SIMPLE PLAN bring their infectious pop-punk catalogue to Wednesday, including the songs that have soundtracked countless teenage years. Australian hardcore outfit SPEED add a more ferocious dose of energy, while American thrash veterans OVERKILL, Swedish progressive metal band SOEN and British doom outfit GREEN LUNG broaden the festival’s heavy end.
The Norwegian scene is well represented, too. OSLO ESS will celebrate their 15th anniversary on home turf, while black metal veterans BORKNAGAR make their Tons of Rock debut. The remaining additions are CLAWFINGER, WAGE WAR and Icelandic metal band MÚR, completing a line-up that moves between classic rock, punk, alternative metal and modern hardcore.
Tons of Rock takes place at Ekebergsletta in Oslo from 23rd – 26th June 2027. The festival has already confirmed MÖTLEY CRÜE, JUDAS PRIEST, TURNSTILE, HELLOWEEN, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and AMON AMARTH, among others, and has now revealed the provisional day-by-day line-up. With more names still to come, this is shaping up to be another substantial summer for rock and metal fans in Norway.
