Jungle to headline All Points East UK 2023 news

British electronic project, JUNGLE, will headline in their hometown for Luno presents All Points East on Saturday 26th August for a UK exclusive performance.

Founded by childhood friends J.Lloyd and Tom McFarland, JUNGLE formed in 2013 and developed its nature as a collective by working with different artists across diverse disciplines. Their self-titled debut record was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, with all three of their albums reaching the Top Ten in the UK Official Albums Chart and over a billion streams to date.

To perform their music live, the London duo expanded to a seven-piece band fronted by Josh and Tom. The pair wished to challenge themselves, resisting the temptation to simply re-produce their music from their laptops, and instead translated their songs into a full and organic live experience. After making a major impact on a world tour last year, and with a huge back catalogue of tracks including ‘Busy Earnin’, ‘Heavy, California’, ‘Casio’ and the infectious ‘Keep Moving’, their set in Victoria Park will be non-stop feel-good energy.

The American musician, producer and actress ERYKAH BADU is a x4-time GRAMMY winner, best known for her singles ‘You Got Me’, her collaboration with The Roots, as well as her own songs ‘Tyrone’, ‘Love of My Life’, ‘On & On’, ‘Bag Lady’, ‘The Healer’ and more. Upon her breakout in 1997, she released her highly acclaimed triple-platinum debut album, Baduizm. A singer/songwriter responsible for all but one of the songs on that record, she reached No.12 in the US and UK with her first single ‘On & On’, which pushed the album to No.2 on the Billboard charts. She drew inspiration from R&B, 70s soul and 80s hip hop, and Baduizm put her at the forefront of the neo-soul movement, dubbed by many critics as “the queen of neo-soul”. Badu went on to release multiple records, including 1999’s GRAMMY-nominated live album Live, sophomore album Mama’s Gun (2000), another platinum-selling success, and Worldwide Underground (2003), which reached No.3 on the Billboard charts.

Returning to Victoria Park is DJ/producer Bruno Boumendil, aka FOLAMOUR. Originally hailing from Lyon, France, Folamour quickly found his feet as an upcoming talent, releasing his first mixtape, 2015’s Chapeau Rouge. From there he went from strength to strength, making a name for himself outside of France and establishing his own label, Moonrise Hill Material, through which he released his successful debut album, 2017’s Umami. Moving to London he created another label, FHUO (For Heaven Use Only) Records, through which he released his sophomore album, 2019’s Ordinary Drugs. With his latest record, 2021’s The Journey, he marked a point of change, with Clash magazine commenting: “Moving into the realm of a composer rather than simply a DJ, the French producer has tapped into a style that will appeal to audiences far and wide.”

Toronto, Ontario-based jazz ensemble BADBADNOTGOOD will be back at All Points East again, performing expansive music that straddles the line between ’70s soul-jazz, alternative hip-hop, and experimental electronica. BADBADNOTGOOD initially gained attention in the early 2010s playing jazz covers of hip-hop tracks by the likes of Odd Future and MF Doom. It was a sound they developed on their first two records, 2011’s BBNG and 2012’s BBNG2, covering songs by A Tribe Called Quest, My Bloody Valentine and Feist. Since then, they have balanced working on their own original songs as on 2016’s IV, and collaborating on projects with hip-hop, dance, and neo-soul artists like Ghostface Killah, Kaytranada, Little Dragon, and Kendrick Lamar. 2021’s Talk Memory found the group exploring fusion, new age, and orchestral influences.

Boundaryless New Jersey artist, 070 SHAKE, crafts uniquely nocturnal songs, full of the frayed emotions that crop up during late nights spent alone with your thoughts. As well as appearing on hooks for veteran rappers like NAS and PUSHA T, bringing her piercing lyrics and sentimental vocals to powerful rap songs, across her solo efforts she’s demonstrated poise, vulnerability and a dedication to going to uncomfortable places, writing moving songs about romantic entanglements and infidelity. Her sophomore album, 2022’s You Can’t Kill Me, is an extension of her previous works’ interrogation of humanity.

Vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist CHARLOTTE DAY WILSON has a sound steeped in moody soulfulness. Her R&B roots mingle intricately with her powerful vocals. Working previously with heavy hitters like DANIEL CAESAR, D MILE and BABYFACE – just to name a few – has highlighted her prowess in production and collaboration. Her previous EPs, CDW and Stone Woman, displayed a crystalline intent, a stirring demonstration of power and poise that garnered her acclaim left and right. Charlotte released her debut album ALPHA to widespread critical acclaim in 2021, and will make her All Points East debut this August.

Despite only releasing his debut album, Yesterday Is Heavy, last year, LIL SILVA has spent years in the industry. With 7 EPs to his name prior to his first album and flying the flag for UK funky, he’s also established himself as a sought-after songwriter, with credits including Mark Ronson, Adele, Banks and Diplo. The long-awaited Yesterday Is Heavy invites his listeners and his peers into the studio with him – collaborating with Skiifall, Sampha and Ghetts, Little Dragon and fellow All Points East performers, BADBADNOTGOOD.

Joining the line-up is London-based artist RAGZ ORIGINALE. Having established himself as a visionary producer and vocalist with a unique blend of sounds, fusing elements of rap, R&B and alternative electronic music, the Ivor Novello nominee is leading a movement of British music that refuses to be boxed in. Also PRETTY GIRL, making self-described “emotional dance music”. Having released a string of singles this year, including ‘A New Light’ and ‘All Good’, plus a remix of ‘Strong’ with Romy and Fred Again.., her long awaited EP2: One Night, One Time comes out next month on 14th April.
