Treefort Music Fest is turning 15, and it is celebrating in typically eclectic fashion. The Boise, Idaho festival has unveiled the first wave of artists for its 2027 edition, bringing together indie-rock favourites, alternative trailblazers, electronic innovators, country storytellers and soul revivalists for five days of musical discovery.
Returning to downtown Boise from 31st March to 4th April 2027, Treefort has announced more than 180 artists representing 18 countries and 28 US states. Leading the first wave are ORVILLE PECK, COURTNEY BARNETT, MODEST MOUSE, THEE SACRED SOULS and JESSE WELLES, with a second Friday headliner still to be revealed. It is a characteristically wide-ranging bill that reflects the festival’s commitment to finding exciting artists across genres rather than following a single musical trend.
ORVILLE PECK, COURTNEY BARNETT AND MODEST MOUSE LEAD THE CHARGE
Few artists bring a more distinctive presence to the stage than ORVILLE PECK. The masked country singer has carved out a world of his own, blending traditional country influences with cinematic storytelling, a rich baritone and a striking visual identity. His appearance gives Treefort a dose of outlaw-country drama, while offering fans a chance to experience one of modern country music’s most recognisable characters.
Australian singer-songwriter COURTNEY BARNETT brings a very different kind of appeal. Known for her conversational lyrics, dry wit and effortlessly inventive guitar work, Barnett has become one of the defining voices of contemporary indie rock. Her observational songwriting finds the extraordinary in everyday life, making her a natural fit for a festival built around artists with something distinctive to say.
MODEST MOUSE will make their Treefort debut, adding another major name to Saturday’s programme. The American alternative-rock band have spent decades moving between restless indie guitar music, expansive arrangements and songs that have become modern cult classics. Their appearance is a significant booking for the festival’s anniversary edition.
THEE SACRED SOULS are also set to return to Treefort. The San Diego trio have developed a devoted following through their warm, soulful sound, drawing on classic R&B and sweet soul traditions while bringing a contemporary perspective to the style. Their set promises a welcome change of pace within a programme packed with contrasting sounds.
Sunday also features folk songwriter JESSE WELLES, whose direct, socially conscious writing has helped him attract growing attention. With further headline announcements still to come, the first wave already gives the anniversary edition plenty of momentum.
FROM HEAVY GUITARS TO ELECTRONIC ADVENTURES
Treefort’s appeal has always extended beyond its headline names, and the 2027 announcement has plenty for fans who prefer their music loud, unpredictable or firmly outside the mainstream.
British rockers ENTER SHIKARI bring their collision of post-hardcore, electronic experimentation and arena-sized energy to Boise. They share the programme with Sleaford Mods, whose stripped-back electronic punk and sharp social commentary have made them one of the UK’s most distinctive acts.
For those drawn towards the more adventurous end of alternative music, ICEAGE, ALL THEM WITCHES, LIP CRITIC, BALANCE AND COMPOSURE, BLACK LIPS and SAVES THE DAY provide plenty of reasons to explore the heavier side of the bill. EARTHEATER adds an altogether different dimension with her experimental approach to electronic music, while HORSEGIIRL brings Berlin’s underground dance-pop energy to Friday’s programme.
There is also plenty of room for discovery. SLOW PULP, RATBOYS, LIME GARDEN, WILD PINK, CAROLINE ROSE, FENNE LILY, THE NOTWIST and FOUR YEAR STRONG represent just a portion of the artists spanning indie, alternative, punk and experimental sounds. It is this variety that makes Treefort particularly appealing to fans who enjoy arriving with a few favourites in mind and leaving with a list of new discoveries.
SOUL, COUNTRY, HIP-HOP AND GLOBAL SOUNDS
The first wave reaches well beyond rock and indie. Alongside THEE SACRED SOULS, THEE SINSEERS and THE ALTONS bring their own connections to the modern soul revival, while LOS MIRLOS represent the enduring appeal of Peruvian cumbia. The announcement also features Chicano Batman frontman Bardo’s solo project and CAIN CULTO, whose work draws on Colombian and Nicaraguan heritage.
Country and Americana fans can look forward to WAYLON WYATT, COLBY ACUFF and BELLA WHITE, while JOY OLADOKUN brings thoughtful songwriting and a genre-crossing approach to the programme. Hip-hop is represented by KENNY MASON and LA REEZY, adding further contrast to a line-up that moves freely between musical traditions.
Other names include LP GIOBBI, JOY OLADOKUN, NATANYA, THAO, VIOLET GROHL, GABRIELLA ROSE, GOTTS STREET PARK, RADIO FREE ALICE, MO LOWDA & THE HUMBLE, BEACH WEATHER, SURPRISE CHEF, GREG FREEMAN and ROBERT LESTER FOLSOM, among many more.
With more artists still to be announced, the first wave feels like a snapshot of the breadth of music Treefort wants to bring together for its 15th anniversary.

MORE THAN FIVE DAYS OF MUSIC
Treefort is not simply a festival with multiple stages. Its wider programme, known collectively as the Fortiverse, gives the event a distinctly citywide identity. Alongside Musicfort, attendees can explore dedicated strands covering film, comedy, food, art, drag, technology, podcasts, storytelling, yoga and more.
The festival spreads across downtown Boise, with performances taking place in venues and outdoor spaces around the city, including locations in and around Julia Davis Park. That format encourages audiences to move between different environments and discover artists they might never have encountered at a conventional single-site festival.
For its 15th year, Treefort is continuing to build on that sense of exploration, bringing international names together with emerging artists and performers from across the United States. It is a celebration of music as a starting point for a much broader cultural experience.
Treefort Music Fest takes place from 31st March to 4th April 2027 in downtown Boise, Idaho.
