Mystic Festival has pulled off a headline announcement with genuine history behind it. FAITH NO MORE are returning to the stage in 2027, and their comeback will be one of the centrepieces of Mystic Festival in Gdańsk, Poland.
The band will headline the festival between 10th and 12th June, with their appearance marking one of their first major European festival moments since their last extended break.
For a band that spent much of their career refusing to fit neatly into one genre, it is a particularly fitting booking for Mystic. Faith No More have always been difficult to categorise, pulling together metal, alternative rock, pop and rap without ever sounding like they were following anybody else’s rules.
That restless approach helped make them one of the most influential rock bands of the late 20th century. Albums such as The Real Thing, Angel Dust, King for a Day… Fool for a Lifetime and Album of the Year gave the band an extraordinary run, producing songs that could be heavy, strange, melodic and unpredictable, sometimes within the same track.
Then came Sol Invictus in 2015, their first studio album in 18 years. It proved that Faith No More had lost none of their ability to sound like Faith No More.
Now they are coming back again.
The timing is particularly interesting for Mystic Festival, which is moving from its familiar shipyard surroundings to a new home in Gdańsk’s Letnica district for 2027. The festival plans to build what it calls its own “Metalopolis” around the grounds of Polsat Plus Arena, giving it more room for larger stages and bigger productions.
FAITH NO MORE are therefore arriving at the beginning of a new chapter for the festival itself.
There is also something satisfying about the pairing. Mystic has built its reputation around heavy music and adventurous programming, while Faith No More have spent decades demonstrating that heavy music does not have to stay inside the lines. Their return gives the 2027 edition a headliner with history, personality and a catalogue that reaches well beyond traditional metal.
And after years away, the most intriguing part may simply be hearing what FAITH NO MORE sound like when they step back onto a festival stage.
Mystic Festival 2027 takes place in Gdańsk’s Letnica district from 10th – 12th June.
The new Metalopolis has its first major headline act.
And FAITH NO MORE are back!
