Some festivals are built around a weekend. Country Concert is built around a habit.
Every summer, Fort Loramie, Ohio, becomes a temporary home for country fans who arrive with their camping gear, coolers and folding chairs and settle in for several days of music. The festival has been doing it since 1981, and the first names for 2027 suggest that the tradition is showing no signs of slowing down.
Country Concert returns from 8th – 10th July 2027, with the party beginning a day earlier for campers. And there is already plenty to get people talking.
HARDY takes the Saturday night headline slot, with SCOTTY MCCREERY, COREY KENT and DIAMOND RIO among the other names announced for the final day. It is a combination that neatly crosses generations, from one of modern country’s biggest personalities to a band whose hits helped define country radio in the 1990s.
Friday moves in a different direction. BAILEY ZIMMERMAN, TY MYERS, CHASE MATTHEW and ANNE WILSON are joined by BLACKHAWK and WHEY JENNINGS, while the USA Karaoke Contest adds one of those wonderfully unpredictable Country Concert touches that you probably would not find on the average festival poster.
Then there is Thursday, which may be the most interesting day for anyone watching where country music is heading next.
JON PARDI and JUSTIN MOORE bring established star power, while JOSH ROSS, EMILY ANN ROBERTS, JOHN FOSTER, ALEX MILLER and TREY PENDLEY add a younger generation to the mix. It is the sort of bill that allows fans to move between familiar favourites and artists who could be considerably bigger by the time they return to Fort Loramie.
There are still plenty of blanks on the poster. Several acts remain listed as TBA, so this is very much the beginning of the 2027 story rather than the finished picture.
That is part of the fun with Country Concert.
This is a festival where the music is only half of the attraction. The other half happens around it: hundreds of acres, camping, old friends, new neighbours and the strange rhythm that takes over when a music festival becomes your home for a few days. The organisers describe it simply as “Music Camping Fun”, and after more than four decades, that formula seems to have stuck.
It also explains why Country Concert feels different from a conventional three-day concert. You are not just arriving for a headline set and going home. You are committing to the weekend.
And in 2027, there is already plenty worth committing to.
HARDY, SCOTTY MCCREERY, DIAMOND RIO, BAILEY ZIMMERMAN, JON PARDI, JUSTIN MOORE and a growing list of emerging names give the festival a lineup that looks backwards and forwards at the same time.
The remaining names will tell us even more.
For now, Fort Loramie has done what it has been doing since 1981: put a lot of country music in one place, leave room for a few surprises and let the fans turn it into their summer.
