Edmonton, Halloween is about to get seriously loud!
SCREAM EDMONTON is returning this October for its biggest edition yet, transforming the Edmonton EXPO Centre into a two-night electronic music and Halloween takeover on October 30 and 31, 2026.
And after 27 years, the festival clearly isn’t interested in slowing down.
This year’s lineup brings together some of the biggest names in dance music, with TIËSTO, ALESSO, CHASE & STATUS, SARA LANDRY, GRYFFIN, SULLIVAN KING, SVDDEN DEATH, ANDREW RAYEL, KREAM, MATRODA, HNTR, WAX MOTIF and ODD MOB all set to perform.
But the music is only half the story.
27 YEARS OF SCREAM
What started in 1999 as a one-night Halloween party at Edmonton’s Polish Hall with around 1,000 people and DJ John Acquaviva behind the deck has grown into one of North America’s longest-running Halloween music festivals.
This year, SCREAM expects more than 30,000 people across two nights – That’s a pretty dramatic evolution!
The festival will occupy more than 228,000 square feet of the Edmonton EXPO Centre, with four stages creating four very different worlds.
FOUR STAGES. PICK YOUR POISON.
The main stage, Elm Street, is going for full festival-scale spectacle, with massive production and a lineup focused on progressive and future house.
Then things get considerably heavier – Camp Crystal Lake is the destination for dubstep, drum & bass and bass music, while Monsterhaus turns the festival into a giant club environment, serving up bass house, tech house and underground sounds.
And if your Halloween soundtrack needs harder edges, Sanctuary brings together trance, hard techno, hard dance and hardstyle.
Translation: whether you’re there for euphoric hands-in-the-air moments, filthy bass or a proper warehouse-style rave, there’s somewhere to disappear into.
HALLOWEEN, BUT MAKE IT MASSIVE
SCREAM isn’t simply putting DJs inside a convention centre and calling it a Halloween party. The 2026 edition is getting a serious production upgrade, with stadium-level sound, huge laser displays, towering LED walls and cathedral-scale lighting rigs set to transform the EXPO Centre.
The festival is also bringing in more than 200 live performers, including dancers, aerialists, stilt-walkers and costumed characters.
So yes, there will be DJs.
But there will also be enough monsters, performers and visual madness roaming around the building to make sure you never quite forget what weekend it is.
THE BIGGEST SCREAM YET
The expansion goes beyond the lineup.
SCREAM is increasing its footprint, widening walkways, improving ventilation, expanding amenities and introducing indoor queueing and a redesigned entrance with multiple lanes to make getting into the festival smoother for a rapidly growing crowd.
It’s a sign of just how far the event has come since that first 1999 party.
Twenty-seven years later, Edmonton’s Halloween tradition has evolved into a 30,000-person electronic music spectacle, bringing fans from across Canada, the US and beyond together for two nights.
And with ALESSO, TIËSTO, CHASE & STATUS and SARA LANDRY among the names leading the charge, this year’s edition has the lineup to match the scale.
27 years in, SCREAM isn’t just celebrating Halloween. It’s taking over Edmonton.
