South Ocean Festival Sweden 2023 news

South Ocean Festival is making its third artist release as the summer is fast approaching. The music festival now announces that British rock band THE LIBERTINES and American artist FATHER JOHN MISTY are ready to participate in what will be the best music experience in the Öresund region.

South Ocean Festival is Malmö’s new venture into a music festival that will put the city on the map both nationally and internationally for all music fans. Now festival general Simon Andersson announces that THE LIBERTINES and FATHER JOHN MISTY are ready to play at the festival!

The combination of these two artists plus those we have previously announced means that we are further positioning South Ocean Festival as an international festival. The combination of artists we now have will give the right feeling that we want visitors to feel during their stay and we are very happy to now welcome these two artists to participate.

THE LIBERTINES – The British rock band from London, led by frontmen Pete Doherty and Carl Barât, conquered the scene back in the 90s with their raw, energetic guitar riffs, sharply charged lyrics and rebellious attitude. The band has achieved unprecedented success and played a crucial role in bringing the UK’s indie rock and post-punk revival scene to international attention. The band have previously been nominated for prestigious awards such as the NME Awards and the Q Awards and have been recognised for their influence on the British music scene.

FATHER JOHN MISTY – The American singer-songwriter from Maryland, known as Father John Misty, broke through in the 2010s under his pseudonym. Joshua Tillman, as his real name is, has achieved great popularity and contributed to the musical success of the US indie folk and alternative rock scene. Father John Misty has previously been nominated for several Grammy Awards and has gained a reputation for his unique musical style and engaging live performances.

THE LIBERTINES will play on the festival on Friday 7th July alongside other big names such as Norwegian electro music duo RÖYKSOPP, BENJAMIN INGROSSO and SMITH & TELL. On Saturday 8th July, British band FLORENCE + THE MACHINE, FATHER JOHN MISTY, ALBIN LEE MELDAU and Stockholm-based band DINA ÖGON will play.
