After a successful premiere last year, Download Germany 2023 returns to the Hockenheimring. Expanded over two days, the festival will gather some of the hottest bands in the international metal, hardcore and punk scene on June 23rd and 24th, 2023.
To accompany the announcement, a lineup is announced that has it all: Nu-Metal icons SLIPKNOT are the headliners. For more than 20 years, the masked troublemakers have stood for spectacular live shows with anthems such as “Wait And Bleed” and “Duality”. As is VOLBEAT, who are also confirmed as one of the four headliners. With their mixture of rock’n’roll and metal, the Danes have created their own genre and will rock Download Germany with current songs as well as classics.
The festival landed another headlining coup with the confirmation of the legendary electro-punkers THE PRODIGY. Emerging from the British rave scene of the 90’s, the group became world famous with songs like “Firestarter” and “Smack My Bitch Up”. For Download Germany, the duo returns to Germany for the first time since the death of singer Keith Flint in 2019. PARKWAY DRIVE, who can look back on 20 years of band history this year, round off the mighty headliner quartet. The Australians stand for intense live moments and embody modern metal in an iconic way.
With the Swedish Melo Death Vikings AMON AMARTH, the German thrash titans KREATOR and CLUTCH, the bluesy stoner rock legends, three absolute greats of their genres have been signed. The alternative metal veterans DISTURBED and NOTHING MORE contribute irrepressible shows to the festival weekend. COHEED AND CAMBRIA will immerse audiences in their conceptual prog rock universe, and post-hardcore stars I PREVAIL and THE AMITY AFFLICTION will push stylistic boundaries with their hard-hitting sound on stage.
Stylistic variety is also offered to the audience by symphonic metal luminaries WITHIN TEMPTATION. Complementing the program are deathcore sensation LORNA SHORE and metalcore high-flyers MALEVOLENCE, as well as STAND ATLANTIC, BOB VYLAN and WARGASM, who are turning heads in the punk scene and beyond with their one-of-a-kind performances. Download Germany is offering the option of camping for the first time. Camping tickets are available from €80. In order to further simplify the processes on site, the entire event will be cashless this year.
