SAM FENDER is heading back to the festival circuit in 2027, and he’s got a pretty big date lined up in Belgium. The British singer-songwriter has been confirmed as the artist closing the Main Stage on Saturday 3rd July at ROCK WERCHTER 2027, adding another major name to an already impressive early line-up.
The announcement came as Fender revealed plans for a new run of live shows, teasing the news with a video inspired by The Lord of the Rings. Rock Werchter even got its own special version of the announcement, featuring the festival’s iconic Festivalpark as the backdrop for his arrival next summer.
It’s a fitting booking for an artist who has steadily grown from one of Britain’s most exciting songwriting talents into a major festival headliner. With his distinctive voice, huge guitar-driven choruses and lyrics that tackle everything from social inequality to the realities of growing up in modern Britain, Fender has built a reputation for connecting with audiences on a deeply personal level.
His breakthrough albums, Hypersonic Missiles and Seventeen Going Under, helped establish him as one of the defining British rock artists of his generation. His third album, People Watching, released in 2025, took that success further, earning him the prestigious Mercury Prize alongside two BRIT Awards. His collaboration with Olivia Dean on REIN ME IN has also become a major success, bringing his music to an even wider audience.
Fender’s live shows have become an essential part of his appeal, combining the energy of a full-blooded rock performance with the kind of storytelling that has drawn comparisons to Bruce Springsteen. Closing the Main Stage at Rock Werchter will give him a prime opportunity to deliver one of the standout sets of the weekend.
Rock Werchter 2027 is taking shape
The festival returns to Festivalpark Werchter from 1st – 4th July 2027, with Fender joining a growing list of confirmed acts that includes TAME IMPALA, SOMBR, MUSE and Belgian star ANGÈLE.
With Sam Fender now set to bring Saturday’s Main Stage programme to a close, Rock Werchter is already building anticipation for another huge weekend of live music in Belgium.
