Recognized as one of the biggest alternative rock bands in the world over the last 20 years, KINGS OF LEON have headlined the most prestigious festivals on the planet, including Coachella, Glastonbury, various editions of Lollapalooza in São Paulo (twice), Berlin (twice), Chicago and Santiago, as well as NOS Alive, to name but a few. Last summer, they extended their absolute attendance record with a 5th night in London’s gigantic Hyde Park. Their last six albums have debuted directly at #1 in the UK album charts.
BARRY CAN’T SWIM arrives at Passeio Marítimo de Algés to perform on the Heineken Stage at NOS Alive’25. The Scottish musician, producer and DJ makes his debut at the festival on the first day, July 10.
BARRY CAN’T SWIM, stage name Joshua Mainnie, is a Scottish producer whose music combines global influences and a progressive approach, with elements of jazz and electronica. Born in Edinburgh, he learned music on a piano rescued by his grandfather and, from an early age, devoted himself obsessively to art, playing in bands and studying music at university. Inspired by the UK electronic scene, with the likes of Jamie xx and Daniel Avery, he began to incorporate the fundamentals of piano, guitar and drums into electronic production. In 2020, he released his first independent album, Because I Wanted You To Know, winning over fans with his unique sound.
In 2021, he signed with Ninja Tune and released the More Content EP, which placed him among the scene’s most promising electronic artists. His debut album, When Will We Land? (2023), was a commercial and critical success, topping the UK charts and receiving nominations for the Mercury Prize and the BRIT Awards. At the same time, he evolved from club DJ to live artist, performing at sold-out concerts and festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury. In 2024, Barry released “Still Riding”, his biggest single to date, and is set to take to the Heineken Stage on July 10, continuing to establish himself as one of the most exciting and innovative figures in electronic music today.
FOSTER THE PEOPLE have been confirmed for the 17th edition of NOS Alive. Mark Foster and Isom Innis’ band will take to the Heineken Stage on the third day of the festival, July 12, at Passeio Marítimo de Algés.
Mark Foster has found a new creative starting point with Paradise State of Mind the latest album by FOSTER THE PEOPLE. During a trip to the UK in 2022, the musician reunited with his former collaborator Paul Epworth at the iconic The Church studio in London, and without much expectation began to explore new ideas. The album’s title came about on the first day, with the main track being created in partnership with Epworth and singer Jack Peñate. That moment unlocked Foster’s creativity, and he set out to create a personal cathartic experience and a space of healing and joy for listeners. Inspired by the musical innovation of the 70s and 80s, Foster incorporated elements of funk, disco, gospel and jazz alongside synthesizers and orchestral arrangements to create a rich, multi-faceted sound.
