Rock Werchter is turning up the volume for 2027, with British rock giants MUSE confirmed to headline the festival on Friday 2nd July. Known for their explosive live performances, huge choruses and spectacular stage production, the trio will return to one of their favourite festival destinations for another major appearance in Belgium.
For fans who have seen MUSE live, the announcement will come as little surprise. The band have built a reputation for turning enormous festival stages into full scale rock spectacles, combining Matt Bellamy’s distinctive vocals and guitar work with Chris Wolstenholme’s bass and Dominic Howard’s powerful drumming. Expect a set packed with dramatic visuals, heavy riffs and the kind of anthems that sound made for a crowd of thousands.
A FAMILIAR NAME WITH UNFINISHED BUSINESS
MUSE first played Rock Werchter in 2000 and have since become firm favourites with the festival crowd. More than 25 years on from that first appearance, their return underlines the band’s enduring relationship with one of Europe’s most established music festivals.
Formed in 1994, Muse have spent more than three decades pushing the boundaries of alternative rock. Their sound blends heavy guitars with electronic textures, grandiose arrangements and a theatrical approach that has helped them stand apart from many of their contemporaries. Albums such as Origin of Symmetry, Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations established their reputation, producing enduring fan favourites including Plug In Baby, Hysteria, Starlight and Knights of Cydonia. Their catalogue has since grown to ten studio albums, with more than 30 million albums sold worldwide.
Along the way, the band have collected two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, an American Music Award and five MTV Europe Music Awards. Yet their biggest selling point remains the live show, where the scale of the production matches the ambition of the music.
Their latest album, The Wow Signal, released in June 2026, marks the beginning of another chapter for the band as they continue their international touring schedule. Their Rock Werchter appearance will give fans the chance to hear the new material alongside the songs that have defined their career.
