Jazz Open Stuttgart is already beginning to take shape for 2027, with three very different artists confirmed for the festival’s Schlossplatz stage. ALEX WARREN will appear on 6th July, followed three days later by blues-rock heavyweights JOE BONAMASSA and BETH HART.
The 2027 edition of Jazz Open Stuttgart runs from 30th June to 11th July, continuing a festival tradition that stretches back to 1994. While jazz remains at its heart, the event has long embraced blues, soul, rock and pop, making its programme one of the more diverse in the European festival calendar.
For younger audiences, ALEX WARREN brings a very different energy to the festival. The singer-songwriter has built a huge following through songs including “Ordinary” and “Carry You Home”, both of which have passed a billion streams. His music has also become increasingly personal, with his albums exploring grief, resilience, healing and optimism.
Warren will perform at Schlossplatz on Tuesday 6th July, with doors opening at 6pm and his set scheduled for 8:45pm. His latest era includes the album Wildchild, following the success of You’ll Be Alright, Kid, while his growing live profile has seen him take his music into the arena circuit.
Then, on Friday 9th July, the festival shifts firmly towards blues and rock with BETH HART and JOE BONAMASSA sharing the stage.
Hart performs first at 7:30pm, bringing material from her acclaimed album You Still Got Me, which reached number one on both the US Billboard Blues Albums chart and the UK Jazz & Blues chart. She is also no stranger to Jazz Open Stuttgart, with 2027 marking her third appearance at the festival.
Bonamassa follows at 9pm. One of the biggest names in contemporary blues-rock, he arrives with fresh material including The Spirit of Rory – Live from Cork, his tribute to the late Irish guitar legend Rory Gallagher. He has also recently been involved in the B.B. King Blues Summit 100, alongside artists including Eric Clapton, Susan Tedeschi and Gary Clark Jr.
The most intriguing part of the evening, however, could come when Hart and Bonamassa share the stage. The pair previously recorded three studio albums and a live album together, and Jazz Open will see them reunite for one or two songs. According to the festival, it will be their first such European performance together since reconnecting.
It is exactly the kind of programming that makes Jazz Open Stuttgart interesting. Rather than sticking to one musical lane, the festival places established blues artists, contemporary pop stars and major international performers alongside one another, using the spectacular Schlossplatz setting as its centrepiece.
With more artists still to be announced for 2027, these early names suggest that Stuttgart will once again be turning its city centre into a major destination for live music. And with WARREN, HART and BONAMASSA already confirmed, there is plenty more to look forward to when the full programme takes shape.
