Golden Plains has revealed the line-up for its nineteenth edition, and once again, the Australian festival is making a compelling case for musical discovery. Returning to the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre from 6th to 8th March 2027, Golden Plains Nineteen brings together internationally recognised electronic pioneers, exciting contemporary guitar bands, boundary-pushing performers and artists who refuse to fit neatly into one musical category.
At the top of the bill are British electronic legends UNDERWORLD, the American rock band GEESE, and Canadian experimental duo ANGINE DE POITRINE. They lead a line-up that moves confidently between dancefloor euphoria, adventurous rock, global sounds, alternative pop and underground club culture. Rather than following a predictable festival formula, Golden Plains has assembled a programme that rewards curiosity, with plenty of opportunities to discover something unexpected along the way.
UNDERWORLD, GEESE AND ANGINE DE POITRINE LEAD THE CHARGE
For dance music fans, Underworld’s appearance is a major draw. The influential British duo have spent decades shaping electronic music, building a reputation for immersive live performances and tracks that have become part of dance culture’s DNA. Their appearance at Golden Plains promises a powerful meeting of generations, with their catalogue of hypnotic rhythms and euphoric electronic soundscapes ideally suited to a festival that lets music unfold long into the night.
Geese arrive with considerable momentum of their own. The New York band have become one of the most talked-about names in contemporary rock, earning attention for their restless songwriting, unpredictable arrangements and ability to make familiar guitar music feel thrillingly unfamiliar. Their Golden Plains appearance offers a chance to experience a group whose reputation has grown rapidly without sacrificing the adventurous spirit that helped them stand out in the first place.
Then there is Angine de Poitrine, the wonderfully unconventional Canadian duo whose microtonal, experimental approach has captured the imagination of music fans far beyond their home country. Their performances twist together intricate rhythms, unusual instrumentation and an almost otherworldly sense of musical exploration. They are precisely the kind of booking that makes Golden Plains more than a collection of familiar names.

A LINE-UP THAT TRAVELS ACROSS GENRES AND CONTINENTS
The programme extends well beyond its headline attractions. Miss Kaninna brings a powerful contemporary voice, while Peter Garrett & The Alter Egos connect the festival to one of Australia’s most recognisable musical legacies. Tinariwen, meanwhile, bring their distinctive desert blues, drawing on the hypnotic guitar work and rich musical traditions that have made the group internationally acclaimed.
Elsewhere, the bill offers an impressive range of alternative and emerging talent. Manchester’s Westside Cowboy bring their own take on guitar-driven indie, while Irish singer-songwriter Dove Ellis offers a more intimate and emotionally charged sound. Haute & Freddy add theatrical synth-pop energy, and Spanish experimental artist Maria Arnal explores the space between traditional vocal influences and adventurous electronic production.
The line-up also includes Peach, daine, iKeda, Orcutt Shelley Miller, Immy Owusu, Maurice Fulton, Swapmeet, Station Model Violence, Salimata, Intermood, Shock Corridor, Rydeen & SOVBLKPSSY, Tongue Dissolver and Nono Gigsta. Together, these artists underline Golden Plains’ commitment to a programme that crosses scenes, styles and borders rather than sticking to a single sound.
Storytelling With Uncle Barry is also part of the experience, offering an opportunity to learn more about the history and significance of the Wadawurrung Country on which the festival takes place.
THE GOLDEN PLAINS EXPERIENCE
The setting is every bit as important as the music. Golden Plains takes place at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre in Victoria, a natural outdoor venue that has become synonymous with the festival’s distinctive atmosphere. There is one stage, meaning the programme is carefully arranged so audiences can follow the music without the familiar frustration of competing set times.
The festival’s approach is deliberately different from the increasingly commercialised festival landscape. There are no commercial sponsors, camping and parking are included with the ticket, and attendees can bring their own supplies. The event’s much-publicised No Dickhead Policy reflects its emphasis on creating a welcoming environment where the crowd is part of what makes the weekend special.
Across two nights and two days of music, the programme is designed to move through different moods and sounds, from afternoon discoveries to late-night dancing and those memorable moments when a performance transforms an already special setting.
