Flow Festival (commonly known simply as Flow) is an urban music and arts festival in Helsinki, Finland. The music presented at Flow Festival is a varied selection of artists from indie rock to soul and jazz and from folk to contemporary club sounds – from both the Finnish and the international scene.
In addition to music, Flow Festival is about urban spaces, visual arts, film screenings, talks, design as well as food and drinks. The event takes place at a defunct Suvilahti power plant and its industrial surroundings in downtown Helsinki’s immediate vicinity.

Suvilahti is a former energy production area located in Sörnäis, Helsinki, which is developing into a cultural center in the 21st century. The Suvilahti area is a nationally important built cultural environment, whose gas bell equipped with a brick shelter has, according to the Helsinki City Museum, a significant cityscape status.
Suvilahti was mainly built between 1908 and 1911, after it was decided to concentrate energy production in one place near Sörnäinen harbor. Due to its location, Suvilahti was excellent for receiving sea transports, such as the coal needed for the production of gas and electricity, as well as for taking advantage of freight traffic also along the Sörnäinen harbor line.
