The happy pre-Christmas news has arrived at the Øya office! Superstar CHARLI XCX and the exciting R&B explorer MONTELL FISH are both ready for Tøyenparken on Thursday 7th August. CHARLI XCX will close the day on the biggest stage!
We know that there are many who have wanted to see one of 2024’s biggest names CHARLI XCX on a Norwegian stage, and organisers very happy that it will happen at Øya Festival. This will be her only concert in Norway in 2025.
CHARLI XCX is one of our most trend-setting pop artists. 2024 has been a peak year in her career with the successful album BRAT and the subsequent tour.
The award-winning artist’s electronic avant-pop has helped push the boundaries of popular music over the past decade. She seamlessly crosses the underground with the mainstream in her artistically ambitious productions. CHARLI XCX is recognised for her innovative style and forward-thinking entrepreneurial spirit. She released her sixth studio album BRAT in June, one of the most critically acclaimed releases of the year. BRAT went to number one on the UK album chart, and had an impressive number of top ten positions on both sides of the Atlantic. In addition, the single Guess, featuring Billie Eilish, reached number one in several countries.
The album was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize, and was followed by the remix album Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat, with remixes from Julian Casablancas, Bon Iver, The 1975, Shygirl, Ariana Grande and Caroline Polachek, among others.
MONTELL FRAZIER from Pittsburgh has received increasing attention in recent years under the name MONTELL FISH for his sophisticated, distinctive and fresh form of R&B. The last ten years have seen a steady stream of exciting, new music. Far more people noticed the talented producer, songwriter and singer with the album JAMIE and the EP Her Love Still Haunts Me Like a Ghost, both from 2022. This fall, the great album Charlotte was released.
