CARRIE UNDERWOOD is heading back to the beach! The country superstar has been announced as the first headliner for Barefoot Country Music Fest 2027, returning to Wildwood Beach in New Jersey from 17th to 20th June 2027.
For anyone who remembers her first appearance at the festival, the return has an extra bit of history behind it.
Underwood’s 2021 Barefoot performance took place during some truly wild weather, with Tropical Storm Henri bringing heavy rain to the area. Despite the conditions, around 30,000 fans stayed put to watch the country star take to the stage, turning what could have been a difficult night into one of the festival’s most memorable performances.
Performing through the rain, Underwood delivered some of her biggest songs, including Before He Cheats and Jesus, Take the Wheel, with the crowd singing along despite the weather.
Five years on, she will get the chance to return to the same beach, although festivalgoers will no doubt be hoping for considerably better weather this time around.
Since that first edition, Barefoot Country Music Fest has grown considerably, establishing itself as a major destination for country music fans and welcoming some of the biggest names in the genre to Wildwood.
Underwood’s return also brings a formidable list of achievements with her. The eight time Grammy Award winner has scored 29 number one singles and more than 100 major awards, while her recordings have accumulated more than 95 million RIAA certifications.
Her catalogue includes some of the defining country hits of the past two decades, from Before He Cheats, Jesus, Take the Wheel and Cowboy Casanova to Blown Away and Church Bells.
With Underwood now confirmed as the first headliner, the 2027 Barefoot Country Music Fest has made a very strong start. Further artists are expected to be announced as the festival builds towards another four days of country music on Wildwood Beach.
And if history is anything to go by, Carrie Underwood’s return could be one of the weekend’s standout moments.
This time, however, perhaps leave the raincoat at home.
