ALANIS MORISSETTE is one of the great heroines of the 90s and her significant imprint continues to inspire fans and artists worldwide. It is therefore with great pleasure that we can announce that the renowned Canadian artist will headline Bergenfest 2025 on Wednesday 11 June!
2025 marks the 30th anniversary of ALANIS MORISSETTE’s iconic debut album ‘Jagged Little Pill’. The record became not only a time capsule filled with 90s songs that everyone knows, but established Alanis as one of the decade’s most influential voices. With her uncompromising honesty, self-reflective lyrics and unforgettable music videos, she set a new standard for what a female singer-songwriter could be.
“Jagged Little Pill” was the first of ten critically acclaimed releases, which together with her poignant performances have secured 14 Canadian Juno Awards, 7 Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, 75 million albums sold, as well as numerous Grammy and Golden Globe nominations. She was recently inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, in addition to her place in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Organisers can hardly wait to experience live versions of classics such as “Ironic”, “Thank U”, “You Oughta Know” and many more, performed by one of the most influential artists of the 90s at Plenen – Bergenhus Festning. As Alanis herself would say: “I’ve got one hand in my pocket”, and the other should hold a Wednesday ticket. “You oughta know” – this will be an evening you don’t want to miss!
