Robyn Confirmed For Way Out West 2027 As Swedish Pop Icon Heads Home To Gothenburg

Robyn confirmed for Way Out West 2027

The Swedish pop star will close the opening day of Way Out West, bringing three decades of dancefloor anthems, emotional pop and independent spirit back to her home country.

ROBYN is heading to Way Out West 2027, and for one of Sweden’s most influential pop artists, this one feels personal. The singer has been confirmed for the festival in Gothenburg’s Slottsskogen, where she will close the opening day on Thursday 12th August.

The announcement follows her huge homecoming show at Stockholm’s 3Arena earlier this month, her biggest solo concert to date. Now she is set to bring that same catalogue of heartbreak, freedom and euphoric pop to one of Sweden’s best-loved summer festivals.

Few artists have shaped modern pop quite like ROBYN. From early hits to the career-defining Body Talk era, she has built a sound that makes emotional vulnerability feel inseparable from the dancefloor. “Dancing on My Own” remains the obvious centrepiece, but tracks such as “Call Your Girlfriend” and “Hang with Me” have also become enduring club classics, balancing melancholy with irresistible momentum.

Her influence stretches well beyond the hits. By establishing her own label, Konichiwa Records, Robyn helped demonstrate that a major pop career did not have to follow the traditional industry playbook. That independent streak has remained central to her work, allowing her to experiment with electronic music and pop without losing the emotional directness that connects with audiences.

The timing also gives the booking extra significance. Robyn was previously scheduled to play Way Out West in 2022 but withdrew before the festival. Her 2027 appearance offers another chance for fans to see her on home soil, this time as the first artist announced for the new edition.

Way Out West returns to Slottsskogen from 12th – 14th August 2027. The festival combines major international acts with a strong alternative and electronic programme, while its wider Stay Out West events take the music into venues across central Gothenburg after dark. More artists are expected to be announced in the coming months, with the organisers planning a programme of more than 130 acts.

With Robyn already confirmed to bring Thursday to a close, Way Out West has made a strong start. If the rest of the line-up follows suit, Gothenburg could be in for another standout weekend next summer.
