MUSE Take Over France: Three Major Festivals, Three Huge Shows in Summer 2027

Muse headline 3 French Festivals in 2027

MUSE fans in France have a very good reason to start planning their summer. The British rock giants are heading back to three of the country’s biggest festivals in July 2027, with Main Square Festival, the Eurockéennes and Les Vieilles Charrues all securing one of the most spectacular live acts of their generation.

And this is no ordinary run of festival appearances. With three shows spread across just 12 days, MUSE are set to bring their towering riffs, seismic bass lines and arena-sized theatrics to three very different corners of France, giving fans multiple chances to experience the band in full flight.

First up is MAIN SQUARE FESTIVAL, where MUSE will headline on Sunday 4th July at the historic Citadelle in Arras. The festival runs from 2nd to 4th July, and the band’s appearance is a major addition to an already exciting early line-up that includes DAVID GUETTA, SOMBR and ANGÈLE. The combination of MUSE’s widescreen rock and the Citadelle’s extraordinary setting should make for a memorable closing night.

The following evening, Monday 5th July, the band head to the EUROCKÉENNES DE BELFORT, where they will close the festival’s 37th edition on the Malsaucy peninsula. The event is breaking with tradition by extending its programme into Monday for the first time in its history, making MUSE the centrepiece of a particularly special final day. It will also mark the band’s fifth appearance at the festival, underlining the long-standing relationship between the group and one of France’s best-loved summer music gatherings.

After that back-to-back opening, MUSE have a little breathing room before heading west to Brittany. On Thursday 15th July, they will perform at LES VIEILLES CHARRUES in Carhaix, returning to a festival they have not played for around 12 years. Their return is a major coup for the event, which has built its reputation on bringing some of the world’s biggest artists to the heart of Brittany while retaining a distinctly local spirit.

So what makes MUSE such a compelling festival booking? Few bands have managed to combine alternative rock, progressive ambition and genuine stadium spectacle quite so successfully. From the dark, driving pulse of Hysteria and the explosive rush of Plug In Baby to the euphoric singalong of Starlight and the apocalyptic drama of Knights of Cydonia, their catalogue is packed with songs that seem tailor-made for huge outdoor stages.

Frontman Matt Bellamy’s unmistakable vocals and guitar work remain at the heart of the experience, while the rhythm section of bassist Christopher Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard gives the band’s biggest moments their extraordinary physical impact. Add the elaborate visuals, dramatic lighting and sheer scale of their live production, and a MUSE headline set becomes much more than a straightforward rock concert.

The 2027 festival dates also form part of the band’s wider The Wow! Signal touring campaign, supporting their tenth studio album. For a group that has spent decades pushing the boundaries of arena rock, the prospect of hearing new material alongside the classics makes these appearances all the more enticing.

There is also something appealing about the route itself. Arras offers the architectural grandeur of a UNESCO-listed fortress setting, Belfort brings the natural backdrop of the Malsaucy peninsula, and Carhaix delivers the distinctive atmosphere of a festival deeply rooted in Breton culture. Three different environments, three different crowds, and one band capable of turning each into a full-scale rock spectacle.

For French fans, July 2027 is already shaping up nicely. Whether you are planning a trip to one festival or considering a summer built around all three, MUSE have given rock fans a compelling reason to get those dates into the diary.

MUSE’s confirmed French festival dates for 2027:
• 4th July: Main Square Festival, Arras
• 5th July: Eurockéennes de Belfort, Malsaucy
• 15th July: Les Vieilles Charrues, Carhaix
With further line-up announcements still to come across the festivals, there is plenty more to look forward to. But one thing is already clear: MUSE are bringing a serious dose of rock theatre to France next summer.
