Jera On Air has never been a festival particularly interested in staying in its lane. Punk, hardcore, metalcore, ska, nu-metal if it has attitude, volume and the potential to cause a sizeable mosh pit, it probably belongs in Ysselsteyn.
The first names for Jera On Air 2027 suggest that isn’t about to change.
Taking place from 24th – 26th June 2027, the Dutch festival has unveiled its first major wave of artists, with LORNA SHORE and DROPKICK MURPHYS already confirmed as headliners. Joining them are SIMPLE PLAN, JOHN COFFEY, THE INTERRUPTERS, GRANDSON, JINJER, STATIC-X, COMEBACK KID, DRAIN, SPEED, FIT FOR A KING, BLOOD FOR BLOOD and a host of other names.
It’s a typically Jera mixture – At one end, LORNA SHORE bring some of the heaviest sounds on the bill. At the other, SIMPLE PLAN offer a very different kind of assault: huge pop-punk choruses and the sort of songs that can make an entire field suddenly remember exactly where they were in the early 2000s.
Then there are the DROPKICK MURPHYS.
Regulars at Jera, the Boston punk veterans are back to headline, which should tell anyone who has seen them before exactly what to expect: Celtic punk, raised fists, loud singing and several thousand people behaving as though the festival has temporarily become the world’s biggest pub.
JOHN COFFEY, meanwhile, are another particularly good fit. The Dutch band have become synonymous with explosive live performances, while THE INTERRUPTERS bring their infectious blend of ska and punk to a lineup already packed with contrasting sounds.
And that’s really the appeal of this first announcement.

Jera doesn’t seem interested in giving you one version of heavy music.
You can go from the brutal intensity of LORNA SHORE to the hardcore attack of DRAIN and COMEBACK KID, take in the industrial crunch of STATIC-X, dance your way through THE INTERRUPTERS and then lose your voice singing along with SIMPLE PLAN.
Somewhere in between, there are names such as GRANDSON, JINJER, RAT BOY, KANONENFIEBER, FROM ASHES TO NEW, BODYSNATCHER, GUILT TRIP, RESTRAINING ORDER, TERMINAL SLEEP and LOCKED SHUT, making the first poster feel more like a musical map than a genre-specific lineup.
It is also worth remembering how far Jera On Air has travelled.
What began in 1992 as a small regional open-air festival organised by volunteers at the JERA ’70 youth centre has grown into an event attracting more than 40,000 people a year. Yet the festival has retained the rough-edged identity that helped build its reputation in the first place.
That’s probably why the first announcement feels so convincing. It’s big enough to attract international names, but still feels like a festival built around music rather than celebrity. And with the first 20-plus names now on the board, there is one obvious question:
If this is only the first wave, just how big is Jera On Air 2027 going to get?
One thing is already certain.
Come June, Ysselsteyn is going to be very, very loud.
