Clear your calendar and alert your crew: Austria’s undisputed titan of heavy music, Nova Rock Festival, has just dropped its Phase 1 poster for 2027. Returning to Pannonia Fields in Nickelsdorf from 9th to 12th June 2027, this four day pilgrimage is shaping up to be an absolute masterpiece.
What makes this lineup announcement so compelling is its sheer refusal to play safe. Nova Rock has always nailed the balance between nostalgia, arena-filling anthems, and pure heavy aggression, but 2027 feels tighter and more intentional than ever.

UNSTOPPABLE HEADLINERS AND ALT-ROCK ICONS
Opening night sets a massive tone with German punk heroes DIE TOTEN HOSEN sharing main stage duties alongside Canadian hitmakers BILLY TALENT. It is a double header guaranteed to turn the fields into a massive singalong before the weekend has even properly kicked off.
Thursday shifts gears into alt-rock perfection as THE SMASHING PUMPKINS and EVANESCENCE lead a star-studded day that also packs SLASH FEAT. MYLES KENNEDY & THE CONSPIRATORS, I PREVAIL and DROPKICK MURPHYS.
Then comes Friday, where cult metal icons FAITH NO MORE make a huge headline appearance next to a intriguing “TBA” slot that is already setting online forums alight with speculation. To round out the festival on Saturday, Berlin punk royalty DIE ÄRZTE and Austrian favourites SEILER UND SPEER take control for a properly rowdy finale.
ZERO FILLER ON THE UNDERCARD
If you judge a festival by the strength of its middle rows, Nova Rock is sitting on a goldmine. Friday alone is an absolute bloodbath for heavy music fans, boasting deathcore kings LORNA SHORE alongside ARCH ENEMY, BEARTOOTH, and SILVERSTEIN.
Metalheads get a proper masterclass on Saturday with AMON AMARTH, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, and KILLSWITCH ENGAGE all stacked together. Meanwhile, fans of pop-punk and modern alternative can catch NECK DEEP, SIMPLE PLAN, NOTHING BUT THIEVES, Australian hardcore breakouts SPEED, and HOT MILK scattered across the weekend.
It is rare to see a four day festival pull off this kind of balance without feeling diluted. Nova Rock 2027 is loud, diverse, and unapologetically massive.
