There are music festivals, and then there are music festivals that seem to have been designed by someone who simply asked, “What else can we fit in?”
Froth & Fury Fest 2027 falls firmly into the second category.
Returning to Adelaide Showground on Saturday 30th January, Froth & Fury is back with its biggest and most ambitious edition yet, bringing together metal, punk, hardcore, heavy rock, alternative music and dark electronic sounds for one seriously unpredictable day.
And this is only the first wave!
CLUTCH, ALPHA WOLF AND A WHOLE LOT OF TROUBLE
Leading the first announcement are KNOCKED LOOSE, CLUTCH, ALPHA WOLF and PALEFACE SWISS, giving the festival three very different reasons to get into the pit. CLUTCH return to Adelaide for the first time since Soundwave 2014, bringing decades of huge riffs, blues soaked rock and the kind of live show that needs very little introduction.
Australian metalcore heavyweights ALPHA WOLF provide a completely different kind of assault, while Switzerland’s PALEFACE SWISS arrive with their notoriously ferocious blend of deathcore, beatdown and sheer live intensity.
Then things start getting wonderfully strange.
CARPENTER BRUT will take over The Compound with a darksynth experience that promises to push the festival well beyond conventional heavy music.
IGORRR bring their wonderfully difficult to categorise collision of extreme metal, breakcore, baroque influences and electronic chaos.
There is also Canadian punk firepower from PROPAGANDHI and COUNTERPARTS, while CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, DEATH TO ALL, DARK ANGEL and 28 DAYS add even more weight to an already enormous bill.
And that is still only Wave One.
THE BILL GETS WILDER THE FURTHER YOU GO!
One of the great things about the Froth & Fury poster is that it rewards a proper look.
THE BERZERKER are returning after 17 years away, bringing their industrial death metal and electronic assault back to the stage. Adelaide veterans TRUTH CORRODED are also making a long awaited return, marking their first live show in seven years.
There is FOX LAKE from Denver, Melbourne’s WAYSIDE, Western Australian punk outfit RATSALAD, RACCOON CITY and SIERRA VEINS, whose dark electronic sound should provide another fascinating change of direction.
Then there are the names still to come.
The festival has confirmed that this is the first of three waves of announcements, meaning the 2027 bill is nowhere near finished.
For a festival already carrying CLUTCH, ALPHA WOLF, PALEFACE SWISS, CARPENTER BRUT, IGORRR, PROPAGANDHI, COUNTERPARTS, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, DEATH TO ALL, DARK ANGEL and THE BERZERKER, that is quite some prospect.

THIS IS MORE THAN A DAY OF BANDS
Froth & Fury has never presented itself as simply a collection of stages and bands.
The festival describes itself as fan made, fan owned and fan proud, and that attitude runs through the whole event. Alongside the music, Adelaide Showground will become a sprawling alternative playground featuring food, markets, tattoos, live entertainment and plenty of unexpected distractions.
The Compound takes things even further, bringing together heavier music and a collection of deliberately chaotic entertainment. Wrestling, armoured combat and other live-action attractions have all become part of the Froth & Fury experience.
It is the sort of festival where you can arrive intending to spend the entire day watching bands and somehow find yourself watching a wrestling match, wandering through the tattoo area or discovering an artist you had never heard of an hour earlier.
That sense of discovery is important too.
THE PATH TO FURY
One of the most interesting additions around the 2027 festival is Path to Fury, a development programme designed to give emerging South Australian heavy, punk and alternative artists a genuine route towards the main festival stage.
Rather than simply filling the bottom of a poster with unknown names, Froth & Fury is creating a process around discovering them. Three heats will give local bands the opportunity to make their case before the festival, adding another layer to an event that is increasingly connected to the South Australian music community.
It also fits perfectly with the festival’s identity. Froth & Fury might be bringing international names such as CLUTCH, PALEFACE SWISS and PROPAGANDHI to Adelaide, but the local scene remains firmly part of the story.
ADELAIDE’S SUMMER GETS LOUD
Froth & Fury has grown considerably since its early editions, and the 2027 festival feels like another step forward.
It is bigger, broader and increasingly difficult to put into a single musical category. Metal sits next to punk. Hardcore sits next to dark electronic music. Established international acts share the day with Australian favourites and emerging local bands.
That is probably exactly the point.
Froth & Fury is not trying to be another neatly packaged genre festival. It is building something that feels much more like an alternative culture gathering, with the music at its centre and plenty of controlled chaos happening around it.
On Saturday 30th January 2027, Adelaide Showground is going to be a very noisy place.
And with two more waves of artists still to come, Froth & Fury has already made one thing very clear.
This is only the beginning.
