Rising star SOMBR is heading to Portugal for the first time, joining the NOS Alive’27 lineup on 10th July. The 20-year-old New York singer-songwriter will take to the NOS Stage on the festival’s final day, bringing his distinctive blend of melancholic indie and pop to Lisbon.
Hailing from New York’s Lower East Side, SOMBR has quickly emerged as one of the defining voices of a new generation of rock and alternative music. Remarkably, he keeps his creative process almost entirely in his own hands, serving as the sole songwriter and co-producer of his music.
His journey began in a makeshift studio in his bedroom, where he discovered his voice and taught himself how to produce music. At the same time, he studied classical music and vocal performance at the prestigious LaGuardia High School, laying the foundations for the distinctive sound that would soon propel him onto the international stage.
Then came 2025 and “back to friends” the breakthrough track that changed everything. The song shot to No. 1 on Spotify and reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100, while spending five weeks at the top of the Alternative Radio chart. That same year, SOMBR released his debut album, I Barely Know Her, which quickly became a global sensation and continues to resonate with audiences around the world.
Blending indie and pop with a deeply melancholic edge, sombr’s music explores the highs, lows and contradictions of young love. His lyrics are strikingly vulnerable and emotionally raw, capturing the uncertainty and intensity of relationships with a depth that has helped fuel his rapid rise internationally.
Over the past summer, SOMBR took his music to stages across North America, the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, establishing himself as one of the most exciting emerging artists on the festival circuit. Now, in 2027, his journey brings him to Portugal for the very first time.
SOMBR will make his debut at the 19th edition of NOS Alive, performing on the same day as previously announced headliners Tame Impala.
