Last week, organisers announced that YUNG LEAN will follow up his acclaimed hometown performance at Avicii Arena by joining forces with his partner-in-crime BLADEE at Way Out West this summer.
Now, it’s time to add even more to the lineup. This time, the additions include British rapper LITTLE SIMZ [UK], album-releasing HURULA, indie sleaze phenomenon THE DARE [US], the enigmatic LUCY (Cooper B. Handy) [US] and the mysterious pop songstress LUVCAT [UK].
When it comes to crowning the sharpest pen in the UK, LITTLE SIMZ is always in the running. For more than 10 years the Mercury Prize winning rapper has consistently delivered some of the most memorable, bold, intelligent and ambitious music possible. A feat that once inspired Kendrick Lamar to call her “one of the illest doing it right now”. But despite the widespread praise, LITTLE SIMZ has never embraced the fame game nor the expectations from the music industry. Instead, she has remained anchored in her own sense of self and has continued to make albums that transform her introversion to a superpower. Earlier this year, she dropped the single ‘Flood’ which is the first sample from her upcoming, sixth album ‘Lotus’.
“What’s wrong with New York?”. That’s the question THE DARE tries to answer on his wildly hyped new album with the same title. The answer? Not enough rock’n’roll, sex and decadence. On his debut album Harrison Patrick Smith aims to bring fun back with the help of indie sleaze and electroclash and the result is irresistibly refreshing. Inspired by classic New York acts such as LCD Soundsystem, THE DARE has created a vibrant manifesto for hedonism. A feat that also led to Charli XCX, who fell in love with the stand-out hit ‘Girls’, decided to collaborate with The Dare on her song ‘The Guess’.
