In 2016, ROXETTE held what we thought would be their very last concerts. Therefore, it is a pleasure to share the news that the duo’s frontman, songwriter and founder Per Gessle is taking ROXETTE’s timeless hits on an international tour. “Roxette in Concert” at Bergenfest on Thursday 12th June 2025 will perform the band’s unique blend of energetic pop and unforgettable ballads on the festival’s main stage.
It has been almost five years since ROXETTE lost Marie Fredriksson to cancer, but the legacy of Roxette still lives on. To the delight of old and new fans alike, the extensive song catalog will be given new life when Per Gessle brings Roxette back on stage. Roxette was formed in 1986 and then consisted of Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson. The pop duo’s records have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide, and they have had four number 1 hits.
“The Roxette band will consist of Christoffer Lundquist, Magnus Börjeson, Magnus “Norpan” Eriksson, Dea Norberg, as well as the original Roxette band members Clarence Öfwerman and Jonas Isacsson.
THE THE “Soul” has been a recurring theme in the history of The The: From founder Matt Johnson’s neo-psychedelic debut “Burning Blue Soul” in 1981 to the groundbreaking “Soul Mining” in 1983.
Now a new chapter is being written in THE THE saga with the start of the “Ensouled World Tour”. With Johnson at the helm, The The established themselves as one of the most influential names of the 80s, and their songs continue to resonate with new generations of listeners. We look forward to a soulful performance at Bergenfest 2025.
To refer to THE THE as a band does not do justice to Matt Johnson’s unique musical project. Johnson’s early experiments with tape recordings in the basement of his family’s pub in Essex laid the foundation for an artists’ collective rather than a traditional band. His first cassette release, 1979’s “See Without Being Seen,” marked the start of a career that now spans four decades.
