Few bands have left their mark on the 90s alternative rock scene like THE SMASHING PUMPKINS. With their epic soundscape and frontman Billy Corgan’s distinct vocals, they have taken a unique place in music history. When they visit Pstereo Festival in August, it will be their only Norwegian stop in 2025!
The band formed in Chicago in 1988 and combined the rawness of grunge with shoegaze, psychedelia and progressive rock. The result? A sonic and explosive palette, which nevertheless feels melancholic.
Their breakthrough came with the album Siamese Dream (1993), a masterpiece of fuzz guitars and vulnerable lyrics. Their biggest commercial success, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), took them to new heights with classics like “1979” and “Bullet with Butterfly Wings.” The album cemented their status as one of the biggest players in modern rock, while also demonstrating their ability to balance the bombastic with the intimate.
Live they are an experience like no other – and with over 30 million albums sold worldwide, Grammy awards, and dozens of immortal classics, we are ready to welcome some true icons to Marinen this summer!
When THE SMASHING PUMPKINS take to Marinen you can expect a band that gives it all – from nostalgic classics to modern experiments. For both old and new fans this is a “must see”.
