The album Ohio Players (Trophy Edition) was recently released by Nonesuch/Warner Records. This deluxe edition of the band’s twelfth studio album contains the new single “Mi Tormenta” feat. DannyLux. Other special guests on the new songs in the Trophy Edition, in addition to the numerous collaborations on the original songs of the Ohio Players, include Alice Cooper and Beck. On “Mi Tormenta,” vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach and DannyLux both sing in Spanish, a first for the Black Keys.

With the release of Ohio Players in April 2024, the Black Keys secured the #1 spot on the Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts. The album also peaked at #5 for the week on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums Chart and Top Alternative Albums Chart, and secured the #4 spot on the Overall Current Album Sales. Ohio Players earned the Black Keys their sixth consecutive top 20 in the United Kingdom, and also entered the top 20 in other international markets such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and more.

The album, which was inspired by band members Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney’s recent “record hang” parties, received praise from Rolling Stone, which stated, “Whether they set up their retro-rock machine in Memphis in the ’60s, the Midwest in the ’70s, or Manchester, England, and Los Angeles in the ’90s, it all flows together like a beautifully rhythmic DJ set,” calling the album “arguably the sharpest collection of songs the Keys have ever made.” Ohio Players marked an exciting departure from previous releases by the Black Keys, as the album introduced fresh new influences while maintaining the widely beloved sound the duo is best known for. With an emphasis on collaboration, the album features contributions from friends and colleagues, including Beck, Noel Gallagher, Dan “The Automator” Nakamura, Greg Kurstin, Juicy J, Lil Noid, and more.

Formed in Akron, Ohio, in 2001, The Black Keys consists of singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. After starting out playing small clubs, the band has gone on to sell out arena tours and have released eleven studio albums: their debut The Big Come Up (2002), followed by Thickfreakness (2003) and Rubber Factory (2004), as well as their Nonesuch Records releases: Magic Potion (2006), Attack & Release (2008), Brothers (2010), El Camino (2011), Turn Blue (2014), “Let’s Rock” (2019), Delta Kream (2021) and Dropout Boogie (2022). The band has won six Grammy Awards and a BRIT and has headlined festivals in North America, South America, Mexico, Australia and Europe.
