As the sun sets later and things begin to thaw, the countdown to the summer solstice and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival has officially begun. Whether gathering together with like-minded music fans in Telluride’s Town Park for the first time or the fifty-third, the anticipation of Thursday’s first set is already in motion, tugging on the hearts of festivarians far and wide. Today, promoters Planet Bluegrass are giving folks even more to be excited about with a list of lineup additions for this year’s festival, June 18th – 21st in the vibrant mountain town of Telluride, Colorado.
Eagle-eyed Telluride heads may have noticed a severe lack of BÉLA FLECK on the initial lineup release, but the time has come to say, no more! Five-time Grammy winner and Kennedy Center Honoree RENEÉ FLEMING will take the Telluride Bluegrass stage alongside Fleck for The Fiddle and the Drum, featuring My Bluegrass Heart, an all-new collaboration between the legendary soprano and banjo luminary.
We thought we knew all the tricks up Bela’s sleeve by now, but here he comes with a new collaboration to blow our socks off in such a deep and beautiful way that you’d never expect it – Craig Ferguson, Planet Bluegrass
Additional acts announced today include the signature raspy drawl of MAGGIE ANTONE, breakthrough Western Canadian singer-songwriter NOELINE HOFMANN, the nearly-local sextet of CLAY STREET UNIT, classical Americana super trio LARK, ROMAN, & MEYER, BOY GOLDEN’S silky songcraft, the beautifully gutting writing and singing of RETT MADISON and the Scotland-based world-folk quartet, DALLAHAN.
