The American DJ and producer is heading to the Swedish seaside next summer, bringing his explosive brand of electronic music to one of the country’s most appealing coastal festival settings.
There are DJs who play the music, and then there are DJs who turn the entire dancefloor into part of the show. STEVE AOKI has spent much of his career firmly in the second camp, and in June 2027, Swedish festival-goers will have the chance to experience his high-energy performance style at Summer On Festival in Båstad.
Taking place on 18th and 19th June, Summer On brings live music and a party atmosphere to the beach in one of Sweden’s best-known coastal destinations. With Aoki among the artists confirmed for the 2027 edition, the festival has another internationally recognised electronic music name on its bill.
AN EDM SHOW THAT RARELY STANDS STILL
Few artists in electronic dance music have built a stage reputation quite like STEVE AOKI. The American DJ, producer and Dim Mak record label founder is known for performances that are as much about crowd interaction and spectacle as they are about the music.
His sets draw on big-room EDM, electro house and festival-ready dance anthems, creating the sort of atmosphere that encourages hands in the air, singalongs and an audience fully invested in the moment. Aoki’s famously unpredictable stage antics have also become part of his identity, helping him stand out in a crowded international dance music scene.
His production credits include collaborations with artists from across pop, hip-hop and electronic music, reflecting an approach that has always looked beyond the traditional boundaries of club culture.
For festival audiences, that combination of recognisable tracks, driving beats and showmanship makes Aoki a natural fit for an outdoor summer event. His performances are designed for a crowd rather than a quiet corner of the dancefloor, and the energy can build quickly once the music gets going.
WHY SUMMER ON IS AN INTERESTING SETTING
Båstad offers a rather different backdrop from the huge purpose-built festival sites and indoor arenas that regularly feature on the international EDM circuit. Situated on Sweden’s west coast, the town is known for its seaside atmosphere, summer visitors and lively social scene.
Summer On takes advantage of that setting, placing the festival on the beach and bringing music, entertainment and the Swedish summer experience together in one destination.
The timing is part of the appeal, too. Mid-June marks the beginning of the Swedish summer festival season, when long days and coastal evenings provide a distinctive atmosphere for outdoor live music. For visitors travelling from elsewhere in Sweden or overseas, the festival also offers an opportunity to make a weekend of it rather than simply turn up for a single performance.
With Steve Aoki on the line-up, Summer On has a name capable of drawing electronic music fans as well as festival-goers looking for a high-impact live show.
MORE ARTISTS STILL TO COME
STEVE AOKI is not the only name on the Summer On Festival 2027 bill. The festival’s official artist page also lists DANTE, with further announcements expected as the programme develops.
As always with an evolving festival line-up, the full running order and individual performance times are yet to be confirmed. Fans planning their weekend should keep an eye on the official festival website for further artist announcements and schedule updates.
