Y Not Festival have revealed their first wave of acts for 2023! Triumphantly returning last year after two years away, the sixteenth edition of the North’s essential music festival is back on 28th – 30th July. Headlining this summer are award-winning alternative duo ROYAL BLOOD, rock giants KASABIAN, legendary musician PAUL WELLER, plus Ivor Novello winners BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB will get the party started early on Thursday.
Opening the weekend on Friday night are BRIT Award winners and epic live act, ROYAL BLOOD. Emerging onto the scene in 2013, the duo have cultivated a reputation for outstanding live shows, complete with high volume, scuzzy riffs and blustering energy, with accolades from NME and Q to prove it. Their anticipated third album, Typhoons, arrived in 2021, seven years after their self-titled debut that earned them a Mercury Prize nomination. They’ll warm up for their massive Y Not headline show by touring with Muse around the UK and Europe, before bringing their very best to Derbyshire.
One of Britain’s biggest live rock bands KASABIAN will take to the stage on Saturday. Serge Pizzorno, bassist Chris Edwards, drummer Ian Matthews and guitarist Tim Carter headline Y Not festival for the first time, armed with their high-octane new album, 2022’s The Alchemist’s Euphoria. Winning multiple awards for their live performances and consistently selling out tours, expect an amazing show fuelled by their trademark swagger.
On Sunday night the incredible PAUL WELLER will close out the weekend, his first appearance at the festival and another huge headliner for the Y Not history books. Beginning his musical career by leading British punk-rock band The Jam, Weller went on to forge his own massively successful solo career. His 1995 album Stanley Road took him to the top of the charts, featuring three UK Top 10 singles including ‘You Do Something To Me’, now his most streamed song on Spotify. Weller has remained a national treasure of the British music scene ever since, carving a legacy that includes 16 solo studio albums, 6 No.1 albums and 4 BRIT Award wins.
Getting the party started early on Thursday night are fan favourites BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB. After announcing a hiatus in 2016, the Mercury Prize nominees and Ivor Novello winners made a welcomed return with 2020’s album Everything Else Has Gone Wrong, which debuted at No.1 in the UK Official Charts. The band recently teased that they’re recording new music soon, meaning there could be some brand new material during their Y Not performance.
