PHOEBE BRIDGERS, DOECHII, MASSIVE ATTACK, FONTAINES D.C., THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS and TURNSTILE lead a typically unpredictable Primavera bill.
Primavera Sound has done it again. The 2027 Barcelona line-up has landed, and rather than simply assembling a collection of big names, the festival has produced the kind of bill that makes you immediately start circling clashes on the timetable.
Taking over Parc del Fòrum from 2nd – 6th June 2027, the festival’s 25th edition brings together more than 150 artists, with PHOEBE BRIDGERS, DOECHII, FONTAINES D.C., MASSIVE ATTACK, TURNSTILE, FKA TWIGS, THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS, ROBYN and HAYLEY WILLIAMS among the biggest names announced.
And that barely scratches the surface!
Primavera has always been at its best when it refuses to behave like a conventional festival. One minute you’re watching a major alternative rock act, the next you’re heading towards an electronic stage, an emerging pop artist or something you’ve never heard of but will inevitably be telling people about afterwards.
That spirit is all over the 2027 line-up.
MASSIVE ATTACK bring the darkness, atmosphere and political edge. THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS promise a full-scale electronic assault, while TURNSTILE provide the kind of high-energy hardcore crossover that can turn a Primavera crowd into absolute chaos.
Then there is PHOEBE BRIDGERS, returning to the festival world with the sort of emotionally charged songwriting that should provide a very different kind of intensity.
And if you want pop, Primavera has plenty of that too. ROBYN, LOLA YOUNG, BAD GYAL and CAROLINE POLACHEK sit comfortably alongside the heavier and more experimental names, while DOECHII adds another major contemporary voice to a festival that has become increasingly good at spotting where popular music is heading next.
That’s probably the real appeal of Primavera Sound.
It isn’t simply a festival where you go to see the artists you already know. It is a festival where the line-up encourages you to take a few wrong turns.
You might arrive for Fontaines D.C. and end up discovering a completely new favourite. You might plan your day around one headline set and spend the rest of the evening chasing music across Parc del Fòrum. And inevitably, there will be those horrible timetable clashes where two artists you desperately want to see are playing at exactly the same time.
That’s Primavera!
Barcelona in early June is also part of the attraction. The combination of the city, the Mediterranean setting and one of Europe’s most ambitious festival sites gives Primavera a character that is difficult to replicate elsewhere.
For its 25th edition, the festival clearly has no intention of playing it safe.
With 2027 already bringing together indie, rock, electronic, hardcore, hip-hop and pop across a sprawling five-day programme, Primavera
Sound once again looks less like a festival line-up and more like a snapshot of where music is heading.
And there are still discoveries to be made.
