MEGAN MORONEY is bringing her fast rising country sound to Country Thunder in 2027, with the multi platinum star confirmed as a headline act for both Country Thunder Arizona and Country Thunder Saskatchewan. Moroney will close out the Main Stage at Country Thunder Arizona on Sunday 11th April, before heading north to headline Country Thunder Saskatchewan on Sunday 11th July.
Country Thunder Arizona returns to its long time home at AZ Talio Ranch in Florence from 8th to 11th April, while Country Thunder Saskatchewan takes place in Craven from 8th to 11th July.
The announcement comes after a week of increasingly obvious clues from Country Thunder, with the festival turning its billboards, website and social media pink in a nod to Moroney’s latest album, Cloud 9.
It was not exactly the world’s best kept secret, but the official announcement finally confirms what fans had been expecting.
Moroney has enjoyed a remarkable rise over the past few years and 2026 has continued that momentum. Her third studio album, Cloud 9, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and produced the platinum certified number one hit 6 Months Later.
Her story began to gather serious pace with Tennessee Orange, which became a five times platinum number one hit and established Moroney as one of the most recognisable new voices in country music. She followed it with Am I Okay?, the title track from her second album, which also reached number one on the country radio charts and has since achieved double platinum status.
Now 28, Moroney has developed a reputation as much for her live performances as she has for her songwriting. Her shows have become increasingly difficult to miss, with huge crowds joining in on songs that have quickly become modern country favourites.
She is currently taking The Cloud 9 Tour around the world, with dates across North America, Europe and the UK. For Country Thunder, Moroney’s addition is the first major headline announcement for its 2027 festivals, with the remaining headliners and full line-ups still to come.
The festival brand has built a sizeable reputation across North America since its launch, regularly bringing some of the biggest names in country music to its stages. Recent Country Thunder headliners have included Lainey Wilson, Riley Green, Brooks & Dunn, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman, Luke Bryan, Jelly Roll, HARDY, Zach Top and Gavin Adcock.
Country Thunder is also about considerably more than the main stage. The four day festivals combine live music with food, drinks, shopping, fan experiences and late night entertainment. At Country Thunder Arizona, the Copperhead Stage provides a platform for emerging artists from Arizona, while the Songwriter Showcase offers fans the chance to see the people behind some of country music’s biggest songs. The Electric Thunder tent keeps things moving after the main stages have finished, with late night dance parties adding another reason to stay around.
Bull riding is also part of the Arizona experience, with Buckin’ Thunder Pro Bull Riding introduced at the 2026 festival as a sanctioned National Senior Pro Bull Riding event. The competition brought experienced riders and lifelong cowboys into the festival environment, giving fans the chance to get much closer to one of the country’s most traditional sporting spectacles.
There is still plenty more to come, with the rest of the Country Thunder Arizona and Country Thunder Saskatchewan line-ups expected to be revealed in the coming months.
For now, though, Country Thunder has its first big name for 2027, and Megan Moroney looks set to bring plenty of noise to both sides of the border.
