From their beginnings in London’s club scene to sold-out shows on big stages around the world, Chris Davids and Liam Ivory – also known as MARIBOU STATE – have established themselves as one of the most acclaimed electronic acts of the past decade. Now, the duo is visiting the Aarhus festival NorthSide for the first time.
Their career took off in the early 2010s, when MARIBOU STATE created their very own sound – a hypnotic mix of house, downtempo and indie pop, inspired by British club music and vintage soul. The album Portraits from 2015 featured standout tracks such as “Midas” and “Steal”, and became the big breakthrough that launched Maribou State onto the international music scene.
Three years later, they wrote themselves into the history books with the album, Kingdoms in Colour. Hits like “Feel Good” and “Nervous Tics” created the sound for a generation of listeners who sought something more nuanced than traditional club music. Maribou State’s latest album, Hallucinating Love, is out on January 31st of this year and with the already released tracks “Otherside” and “Blackoak”, it promises to be a release that takes the duo to new heights.
In June, all Aarhus rock lovers are in for a treat when the Danish legends in DIZZY MIZZ LIZZY visit NorthSide festival!
With iconic tracks like “Silverflame” and “Love Is a Loser’s Game” in their back catalogue, DIZZY MIZZ LIZZY’s music has been characterized by sharp rhythms and riffs for over 3 decades, where guitar, bass and drums form a raw and powerful trinity. In the 90s, they released the two iconic albums Dizzy Mizz Lizzy and Rotator in relatively short intervals, which introduced the Danes to rock as it had never sounded before in Denmark.
Later, the group returned in 2016 and 2020 with the albums Forward in Reverse and Alter Echo, the latter of which in particular showed that they still have their finger on the pulse – but now with a more mature and nuanced sound. Dizzy have managed to maintain their rock roots while their music has taken them to new heights.
With platinum records, the best-selling rock debut album in Denmark, sold-out concerts and massive festival appearances, they have cemented themselves as one of the biggest rock bands in the country. DIZZY MIZZ LIZZY is ready to throw you straight into the silver flames of heavy riffs and unrivaled rock “Glory” when they visit Eskelunden on June 5th – 7th.
