Are you ready to be wowed this summer by some of the world’s most shining stars right now? Today, Roskilde festival is adding the global popstar ROSALÍA, the queer icon and hip hop-phenomenon LIL NAS X and an additional 36 new acts to Roskilde Festival 2023.
The announcement also features UK drill-powerhouse CENTRAL CEE, rap’s newest breakout star GLORILLA, Swedish shapeshifter FEVER RAY, desert rock legends TINARIWEN and grindcore super group LOCK UP.
They join a line-up which already includes BLUR, BURNA BOY, CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and many more!
In recent years, both ROSALIÁ and LIL NAS X have revolutionized the portrayal of a modern pop luminary in each their own right. In no time, the visionary Spanish singer Rosalía has become the leading global popstar, breaking cultural and musical barriers left and right with an innovative mix of flamenco pop, R&B and electronic productions.
In 2022,, ROSALIÁ proved her position with the release of her universally acclaimed album “MOTOMAMI”, and she will take a huge step up at Roskilde Festival this summer when she plays the Arena stage, four years after her majestic and mindblowing first appearance at Roskilde Festival.
Across the Atlantic, 23-year-old LIL NAS X has become a hip hop phenomenon and a queer icon at the speed of sound. His debut single, “Old Town Road” from 2018, spent a record-breaking 19 weeks as number one on the Billboards Hot 100, and while sitting on top of the hitlist, he came out as gay, being the first topper to do so.
Since then, he has but manifested his position and hitmaking prowess with the debut album, “Montero”, and hits like “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and “Industry Baby”. In the fall of 2022, LIL NAS X embarked on his first ever tour, selling out every single show on his way, and if the rave reviews ticking in are anything to go by, we are in for a rainbow-colored spectacle when he plays Roskilde Festival biggest stage, Orange Stage.
In addition to the new music acts organisers also present four mesmerizing acts to this year’s Art & Activism program with the inclusion of MARIKISCRYCRYCRY, LISE HALLER BAGGESEN, KINGA BARTIS and DARIA BLUM. Despite their different approaches and stylistic shapes, the four artists are united in spirit and are engaged in creating strong and diverse communities and contributing with new perspectives on impending challenges.
