Dust off your denim and leather, because the road to Sölvesborg just got a lot louder. Sweden Rock Festival 2026 has just dropped its latest wave of bands, and it’s a masterclass in variety. Whether you’re a die-hard purist of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal or a modern metalhead looking for the next big breakdown, this year’s “Rock n’ Roll Paradise” is shaping up to be one for the history books.
THE BIG HITTERS: JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS JOIN THE PARTY
Leading the charge in the most recent announcement is none other than the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” herself, JOAN JETT AND THE BLACKHEARTS. It’s been a long wait for her return to the SRF stage, and the timing couldn’t be better. Joan is set to close out the Festival Stage on Friday night. Expect a sea of voices joined together for “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” and “Bad Reputation”—the kind of “pinch-me” moment that defines the Sweden Rock experience.
A MIX OF LEGENDS AND NEW BLOOD
The festival has always excelled at balancing heritage acts with the cutting edge of the scene. Joining previously announced titans like IRON MAIDEN, VOLBEAT and BRING ME THE HORIZON are:
• HELLOWEEN: The German power metal godfathers return with their massive “Pumpkins United” style lineup, featuring Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen.
• TOM MORELLO: Making his highly anticipated SRF debut, the Rage Against the Machine virtuoso is expected to bring his unique brand of high-octane guitar wizardry to the Swedish crowds.
• SOCIAL DISTORTION: Mike Ness and company bring their signature blend of punk, rockabilly, and country soul, a perfect vibe for a sunny afternoon in Norje.
• SAXON: It wouldn’t be Sweden Rock without Biff Byford. With Diamond Head’s Brian Tatler now on guitar, the NWOBHM legends are sounding tighter than ever.
THE RETURN OF THE CULT FAVOURITES
One of the biggest talking points of the latest drop is the return of ADEPT. The Swedish metalcore favourites, who famously went on hiatus just as they were peaking, are back with a bang following their 2025 album Blood Covenant.
For those who like it fast and technical, New Jersey thrashers OVERKILL and industrial metal pioneers STATIC-X have also been confirmed. And let’s not forget the “Gothenburg Sound” supergroup THE HALO EFFECT, featuring In Flames and Dark Tranquillity alumni, who are set to deliver a masterclass in melodic death metal.
