The Nova Rock Festival, also just Nova Rock, is an Austrian rock festival that has existed since 2005 and takes place each year in June. It is located in Burgenland, the easternmost federal state of Austria, near Nickelsdorf and the Hungarian and Slovak borders.
The festival is, nowadays, considered as the largest rock festival in Austria with bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rage Against The Machine, Sex Pistols, Stone Temple Pilots, Rammstein, Linkin Park, Slipknot and more performing at it.
Muse headlined the 2022 Nova Rock Festival, together with Placebo, Kraftklub, Volbeat and Five Finger Death Punch. The show was planned to take place in 2020, but had to be cancelled twice, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, both in 2020 and 2021. This left Muse to be the only headliner to stay as announced originally. This also marked the first time Muse performed at the Nova Rock Festival.

Pannonia Fields (also reffered to as Pannonia Fields II) is, as its name suggests, a flat field land, located just outside of the town of Nickelsdorf (Miklóshalma or Miklóshalom in Hungarian), in the district of Neusiedl am See, in the state of Burgenland. It is located right next to the Austrian-Hungarian border.
Despite Nickelsdorf, and its municipality, being fairly small, with an estimated population of just over 1.000, it is known for hosting a couple famous festivals. These include the “Jazzfestival Konfrontationen” (hosted since 1985) and the “Nova Rock Festival” (hosted since 2005). The first edition of the festival brought in around 30,000 visitors, with headliners Die Ärzte, System of a Down, The Prodigy and Green Day. The festival is, nowadays, considered as the largest rock festival in Austria.
