Nibe Festival is the 6th largest music festival in Denmark. Music is played in various genres, but predominantly pop and rock, spread over around 80 concerts during the festival.
Nibe Festival started in 1985, the festival consisted of a one-day concert with local bands, which was organised on a block wagon at Dyrskuepladsen on Løgstørvej in Nibe. The reason for the festival was the UN’s decision to make 1985 the International Youth Year, where all the country’s municipalities encouraged young people to come up with new initiatives and ideas for the municipalities.
Almost 5,000 voluntary helpers work before, during and after the festival. In 2023, Nibe Festival had a record profit of 3.6 million. The festival is non-profit and all profits go to charity.
Nibe Festival, set in the Skalskoven forest near the town of Nibe in Denmark the festival is not just an event it’s a tradition that brings together music lovers from all corners of the globe. Known as Nordjylland’s largest music festival, Nibe Festival promises an unforgettable experience with a lineup that blends international stars with the best of Danish talent.

Many people probably associate the forest on the outskirts of Nibe with the Nibe Festival, but Skalskoven with the many beech trees has much else to offer. In the forest you can both follow gravel and asphalt roads, but you can also explore the smaller paths, where you may be lucky to meet a fern, but otherwise you mostly come across others who are out and enjoy nature on a walk with or without dogs or runners. Skalskoven offers a fine hilly marked five kilometers of running route. Several mountain bikers have also found their way to the forest.
The forest also contains a popular nature playground, which is established in a hilly landscape between the trees. The playground has swings, balance boom, slide and not least a cable car that is a hit among the youngest. The playground is only a stone’s throw from Skal Pavillonen, where in the old days there was a ball with live music, but today a restaurant is reserved for private parties. Next to the eatery you will find Horse Square – a large open grass area, where many like to enjoy their brought food on days when the sun is looking forward.
If you walk on the path on the edge of the forest and follow it all around and continue as it goes uphill, you will eventually be rewarded with the most beautiful view of the Limfjord. There is a bench on the edge of the forest just above the Nibe letters and from here is a fantastic panoramic view of the Limfjord and the nearby fields with horses. A warm summer evening, when the sun sets over the fjord – then it doesn’t get any more beautiful.
