After many years of trying to get the much-anticipated EMPIRE OF THE SUN on the bill, NorthSide is now lifting the 2026 edition with the iconic Australian pop pioneers at the forefront of a strong pool filled with pop and electronic music from both Denmark and abroad.
EMPIRE OF THE SUN is the sound of something iconic, magical and alluring. The band behind huge hits like ‘We Are The People’ and ‘Walking on a Dream’ prove with their latest album Ask That God that they are still very relevant. They do things in their own unique way with a colourful and exuberant mix of dance-rock, synth-pop and new wave. At NorthSide 2026, the audience can look forward to an epic show filled with flamboyant costumes, futuristic stage images and an unforgettable live experience.
In the electronic corner, the festival presents both the Dutch trio TINLICKER and the American Sudan Archives. Tinlicker has challenged the genre’s boundaries with progressive house for more than a decade, where everything from strings and keyboards to horns find their way into their productions. Sudan Archives unites experimental R&B and classic strings in a violin-driven club energy that is all her own.
This year, Danish artist ALEX VARGAS has also taken a significant step in a new electronic direction, where optimism pulsates without losing his well-known tone and sense of melody. Two other Danish audience favorites, KALASET and URO, both revolve around being young, but each with their own expression. KALASET, one of the most sought-after names for NorthSide 2026, delivers an explosive and energetic sound that is hard to miss. URO, a self-taught musician, songwriter and producer, has created a unique universe that is raw, honest, sensitive and completely his own.
The NorthSide line-up is also expanded with a number of artists, each of whom adds a new edge: EBBB, the London-based trio, delivers experimental electronic pop carried by a classically trained vocalist. FLORENCE ROAD brings a 90s-rock energy and lyrics that speak directly to the youth of the day. KAYAK, the Danish indie pop trio, hits the same audience, but from a more fragile and present angle.
