Two huge names, one opening day and a festival already generating serious excitement. SOMBR and ANGÈLE are joining Main Square Festival 2027, bringing global breakout hits and French-speaking pop brilliance to the historic Citadel of Arras.
Main Square Festival is giving its opening day a major boost, adding two artists who represent different sides of modern pop but share one thing in common: the ability to make a serious impression.
American singer-songwriter SOMBR and Belgian pop superstar ANGÈLE will both perform on Friday 2 July, setting the tone for the first day of the French festival’s 2027 edition. With Muse and David Guetta already announced for the weekend, Main Square is putting together a bill that reaches across generations, genres and borders.
SOMBR: FROM BREAKOUT HIT TO FESTIVAL FAVOURITE
Few young artists have made a bigger international impact recently than SOMBR. The New York singer-songwriter broke through with back to friends, a song that travelled far beyond its indie-pop beginnings and introduced his emotionally charged sound to a global audience.
Blending indie rock, alternative pop and raw, relationship-driven songwriting, SOMBR has connected with listeners looking for something that feels both intimate and big enough to fill a festival stage. Tracks including undressed have helped build his reputation, while sold-out tours have demonstrated that the online buzz translates into real-world demand.
His Main Square appearance is billed as an exclusive French festival performance, giving fans another reason to head to Arras this summer.
ANGÈLE BRINGS THE POP POWER
Joining him is ANGÈLE, one of the most successful Belgian artists of her generation. With sharp pop instincts, irresistible melodies and a distinctive personality, she has become a major force in French-language music, winning audiences well beyond Belgium and France.
Songs such as Balance ton quoi, Tout oublier and Bruxelles je t’aime have helped establish her as a modern pop star with both chart appeal and a clear artistic identity. Her new album, Instinct, marks the next chapter in her career, with the accompanying tour promising a fresh live show.
For Main Square, her arrival adds another major European name to the opening-day bill, pairing polished pop spectacle with the emotional pull of SOMBR’s alternative sound.
A BIG WEEKEND TAKES SHAPE
The two additions join an increasingly compelling line-up for Main Square Festival 2027. DAVID GUETTA is set to bring the dance anthems on Saturday, while MUSE will close the festival on Sunday with their arena-sized rock sound.
The festival returns to La Citadelle in Arras from 2nd to 4th July 2027, bringing three days of live music to one of northern France’s most distinctive festival settings. More artists are still to be announced, so the line-up is far from complete.
With SOMBR and ANGÈLE now confirmed for Friday, Main Square has given its opening day a clear identity: contemporary pop, alternative energy and two artists firmly on the rise. The next announcements will have a lot to live up to.
