Cody Johnson Is Bringing Real Country to Myrtle Beach

Cody Johnson headlines Carolina Country Music Festival 2027

Myrtle Beach is about to get a little more Texas!

CODY JOHNSON has been announced as the second headliner for Carolina Country Music Fest 2027, joining FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE at the top of a festival that returns to the South Carolina coast from 10th – 13th June.

And while the announcement will inevitably be measured in ticket sales, chart positions and awards, there is something more interesting about Johnson taking the stage at CCMF. He represents a particular kind of country music that does not need much decoration. The songs are big, the voice is bigger and the connection with the audience is at the centre of everything.

That feels like a good fit for a festival on the shores of Myrtle Beach.

CODY JOHNSON arrives at CCMF with the sort of momentum that is difficult to manufacture. In 2025, he sold around 400,000 concert tickets across a touring schedule that took him through the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, while also landing on Billboard’s Top 100 Tours list.

Two consecutive shows at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena sold out, underlining just how far his audience has grown.

Then came 2026……

CODY JOHNSON picked up ACM Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year, taking his total ACM wins to four. His trophy cabinet also includes four CMA Awards, including Album of the Year for Leather, three CMT Music Awards and CMT Artist of the Year recognition.

But awards are not really the reason CODY JOHNSON works so well as a festival headliner.

It is the voice.

There is a weight to Johnson’s delivery that makes even a huge outdoor stage feel surprisingly personal. His music sits comfortably within the traditions of country, but his rise has also come at a time when audiences appear increasingly interested in artists who sound unmistakably like themselves. That authenticity has become part of Johnson’s appeal, and it is reflected in the way the festival itself describes him. CCMF’s own lineup page points to his growing reputation as a major figure in the future of country music.

Now put that against the setting – Carolina Country Music Fest has grown into a major four-day event with more than 40 artists and five stages, but the beach remains one of its defining features.

That makes the Johnson announcement more than another name added to a festival poster. It gives the 2027 edition another musical identity.

FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE brings its own history and anthemic energy. CODY JOHNSON brings something rooted further back in country music while still sounding very much like a modern headliner. The combination suggests a festival that is not interested in putting the genre into one neat box.

And there are still more names to come.

For now, though, the picture is becoming clear. Four days, five stages, the Atlantic coastline and two very different headliners already locked in.

By the time CODY JOHNSON walks onto that stage in Myrtle Beach, thousands of fans will have travelled to the coast for the same reason they travel to the biggest festivals anywhere in the world: not simply to hear the songs, but to become part of the moment when everybody around them knows every word.

That is when a festival stops being a lineup.

It becomes a memory.
