Greenfield Festival has wasted little time making its 2027 intentions clear. The first wave of names for the Swiss festival is packed with major rock and metal acts, with PARKWAY DRIVE, EVANESCENCE and BILLY TALENT leading an announcement that already stretches well beyond the usual handful of headline names.
Taking place from 10th – 12th June 2027 at Interlaken Airport, Greenfield will once again put heavy music against one of Europe’s most spectacular backdrops, with the mountains of the Bernese Oberland rising behind the festival site.
PARKWAY DRIVE bring the heavy artillery. The Australian metalcore giants have become one of the biggest live bands in the genre, and their combination of huge riffs, fire and arena-sized production feels almost tailor-made for a festival of this scale.
EVANESCENCE offer something very different. Amy Lee’s band bring the drama, melody and gothic atmosphere that have made songs such as Bring Me to Life and My Immortal enduring rock favourites.
Then there is BILLY TALENT, adding a shot of punk energy to the top end of the bill.
And that is only the beginning – LORNA SHORE, ARCH ENEMY and KREATOR give the announcement some serious metal weight, while DROPKICK MURPHYS bring their unmistakable Celtic-punk energy. ENTER SHIKARI add their genre-bending approach, with BEARTOOTH, FEUERSCHWANZ, THE INTERRUPTERS, EISBRECHER and THE AMITY AFFLICTION further widening the musical spectrum.
There is plenty here for fans who like their festivals loud, but Greenfield has also avoided making the first announcement feel like a collection of bands from the same corner of the scene. The bill moves from metalcore and extreme metal through punk, alternative rock and more melodic territory.
That variety is part of what makes Greenfield work. The festival has been held at Interlaken Airport since 2005 and has established itself as Switzerland’s biggest rock festival, attracting more than 70,000 visitors and more than 40 international bands in recent editions.
For 2027, the festival has already announced more than enough to get the conversation started, while names including SONDASCHULE, FEINE SAHNE FISCHFILET, FIT FOR A KING, DANKO JONES, HOLDING ABSENCE, SPEED and HOT MILK add further depth to the opening wave.
And there is still plenty of room on that poster! Greenfield 2027 is shaping up to be one of those festivals where the scenery might be beautiful, but the soundtrack is anything but quiet.
