Garorock has wasted no time getting its 2027 line-up started. French electronic music superstar DAVID GUETTA has been announced as the first artist for next year’s festival, and he is set to close the 31st edition in spectacular fashion on Sunday 27th June.
Guetta will take over the festival site in Marmande, in south-west France, for what is being billed as an exceptional appearance. With the rest of the 2027 line-up still under wraps until the autumn, putting one of the world’s biggest DJs at the top of the announcement is certainly a statement of intent.
For anyone unfamiliar with Garorock, the festival has become one of France’s major summer music events over the past three decades. It began in 1997 in Marmande and has grown from a relatively small gathering into a huge celebration of live music, while managing to retain the warm, communal character that has always been part of its identity.
Marmande itself sits in the Lot-et-Garonne department between Bordeaux and Toulouse, giving the festival a distinctly south-western French setting. Garorock takes place at the Plaine de la Filhole, where thousands of festivalgoers descend each summer for a weekend that mixes major international stars with some of the most exciting names in French and European music.
The festival’s history is wonderfully eclectic. Over the years, its stages have hosted everyone from The Offspring, Deftones and Public Enemy to Green Day, Muse, Stromae and Black Eyed Peas. Electronic music has always had a strong presence too, with artists including Skrillex, Fred again.., Swedish House Mafia, Calvin Harris and, fittingly, David Guetta having all appeared at previous editions.
In fact, Guetta is no stranger to Garorock. He previously played the festival in 2012 and returned in 2023, when he shared a bill with artists including Macklemore, Fred again.., Skrillex, Central Cee and Rema. His 2027 appearance will therefore be something of a homecoming, only this time he will be bringing the weekend to a close.
It is hard to think of many artists better suited to that job. Guetta has spent more than 30 years turning dance music into massive global pop moments, working with some of the biggest names in music along the way. His collaborations have included Rihanna, Sia, Usher, Nicki Minaj, The Black Eyed Peas and Kelly Rowland, helping make tracks such as “Titanium”, “When Love Takes Over” and “Without You” festival staples around the world.
His influence goes well beyond the traditional club scene. Guetta has played a huge role in bringing electronic music into the pop mainstream, while continuing to evolve his sound as dance music has changed around him. His ability to turn a festival crowd into one enormous dancefloor is a big part of why he remains such a formidable live act.
Now he is heading back to Marmande for another night of huge drops, familiar anthems and thousands of people dancing into the final hours of the festival.
Garorock 2027 takes place from 25th – 27th June, with David Guetta performing on the final night. The rest of the line-up will be revealed later this autumn, so this first announcement could be just the beginning of another seriously big weekend in the south of France.
For now, Garorock has made its intentions pretty clear. It wants to end its 31st edition with a bang.
