Sweden’s largest festival organiser, Homerun Festivals, is launching a new grand summer festival in Gothenburg. 26th – 27th June 2026, Butterfly Festival will take over Frihamnen Arena. For two days, the hottest artists from the Nordic region will be crowded with international stars. Artists straight from the charts.
Generation Z is tired of being told what to eat at festivals or that the music should be something pretentiously curated. They want to experience things. They want to listen to the music from the pre-parties and from the charts on Spotify – Peter Arkhult, CEO of Homerun Festivals.
Butterfly is the festival that gives Generation Z what they want. A generation that lives for the moment. The hits straight from the pre-parties, constant entertainment, food without rules and a party that never ends.
The first artists to be presented at Butterfly Festival are BOLAGET, SOPPGIROBYGGET (NO) and MACKLEMORE (US). BOLAGET comes from two years of RODEO, a concept that has taken Sweden by storm and over 150,000 tickets sold. SOPPGIROBYGGET who has had an explosive journey in 2025 and delivered hits upon hits. Grammy winner MACKLEMORE, one of the world’s most streamed artists, is returning to Sweden for the first time since 2024.
We are incredibly proud to be able to present three artists who really radiate energy and put the party in focus. Exactly what we want Butterfly Festival to stand for, says Peter Arkhult and continues: – Bolaget is the most in-demand artist in the target group and comes from an explosive tour in 2026. Macklemore is an international superstar and an entertainer who delivers every time he stands on stage. Soppgirobygget is an artist who defines gen-z with his music and his show that focuses on the party here and now – Peter Arkhult, CEO of Homerun Festivals
At Frihamnen Arena, in addition to 25 artists, the festival will offer activities such as karaoke, silent disco, fairground attractions, bars and activations from partners.
The stages on the festival grounds will be:
The Big Stage – international stars, the Nordic region’s biggest artists and explosive live shows under the open sky.
The Hangar – a darker, denser world with DJs, rave influences, lasers, led, pyro and after-parties that never really end. After 24:00, the Butterfly After Party takes over the party with DJs, live acts, lasers and pyrotechnics inside Kajskjul 105.
American superstar Ben “MACKLEMORE” Haggerty will be coming to Gothenburg for an exclusive gig at the festival’s premiere in the summer of 2026. This will be Macklemore’s first appearance in Sweden since 2024 and his only gig in Sweden in 2026. MACKLEMORE is one of the world’s most successful and streamed hip-hop acts.
After his global breakthrough with producer Ryan Lewis, Macklemore has established a strong solo career with several international hits. Songs like “Glorious”, “These Days”, “Good Old Days” and “Summer Days” have been streamed over three billion times. In addition, their joint super hits “Can’t Hold Us” and “Thrift Shop” continue to dominate charts worldwide today – with billions more streams.
When Butterfly Festival takes over Frihamnen in Gothenburg in June, the audience will be greeted by an energetic and charismatic live show from one of the world’s most dynamic stage personalities.
After two years with the successful concert concept RODEO, which has sold over 150,000 tickets and become one of Sweden’s most talked-about live phenomena, BOLAGET is now making its big return to the festival scene. Butterfly Festival can today proudly announce that the duo is ready for the festival’s premiere edition in Gothenburg in the summer of 2026.
BOLAGET is currently in the studio working on brand new music, which means that the audience can expect both fresh songs and a new, upgraded festival show when Frihamnen is transformed into a two-day party venue at the end of June. As one of Sweden’s most streamed and in-demand live acts, The Company will be one of the central names at Butterfly Festival, a new summer festival where popular music, a lively audience and endless partying are at the centre.
The Norwegian superduo SOPPGIROBYGGET (SGB) has made an almost explosive journey. With megahits like “Afterski”, “Domen” and “Kjøpe Hele Sverige” they have amassed over 200 million streams, with three Swedish cities topping their listening statistics. In 2024 and 2025 they broke new records with the superhit “Viva La Vida”, which remained in the top 10 all summer and exceeded 22 million streams.
