The first COPENHELL 2025 headliner is ready: SLIPKNOT, the metal superstars from Iowa, return to Refshale Island with their explosive energy, aggressive sound and insanely entertaining chaos of a stage show. Everyone who has experienced – and survived! – a concert with the masked maniacs can confirm that it is almost a form of cathartic ritual, where both the audience and the band give free rein to the wildness until all energy is drained from both body and mind!
Bombastic sound and grandiose compositions are the keywords when POWERWOLF takes the stage with their catchy power metal. The textual universe revolves around vampires, werewolves and all other imaginable mystical gothic creatures, and the stories are told with crushing hard drums, heavy guitar riffs, beautiful organ melodies and, not least, the operatic vocals of the charismatic frontman Attila Dorn. The festival square will undoubtedly resound with atmospheric singing along with the popular Germans.
American SKILLET are known for their intense combination of rock, electronic music and symphonic elements in their deeply personal songs. Fronted by the dynamic married couple John and Korey Cooper, the band has released 11 studio albums since 1996, earned two Grammy nominations and two double platinum records, and in recent decades has toured with a host of major rock bands. The music is uplifting and full of positive messages and contains everything from melodic power ballads to hard guitar shreds that speak to several generations of rock fans.
The country genre is far from just backward-looking old men sitting with cowboy hats on and chewing straw while gazing wistfully out over endless cornfields – it also features an unusual singer like HARDY: A country superstar who has written countless hit songs for other musicians, and who have since moved across rock’s stony stubble and jumped the fence into nu-metal territory, releasing music that is truly the epitome of originality. His unusual redneck hybrid music is both an effective rebellion against the old Nashville virtues and a colossal crowd pleaser.
Internet star POPPY speaks directly to a whole new generation of metal lovers and has taken the world by storm in recent years with his unpredictable jumps between electropop, nu-metal, heavy metal, industrial rock and dark pop. She moves effortlessly between the cute and the grim with her experimental aesthetic, and her alternative combination of metal and soft pop is a completely conscious genre identity crisis. This concert will be a musical experience with a young star who is all his own!
Canadian KITTIE stormed the metal scene with their explosive debut ”Spit” in 1999, and they have since leaned more and more into an even harder and more aggressive sound. The band hit a long hiatus after 2013 and the future was uncertain for many years, until in 2022 they reunited on stage and once again began touring and went into the studio to record new material. This led to their seventh album, “Fire”, which was released in the summer of 2024 – to the great excitement of all those who have followed the band since the beginning. The style was then an exciting combination of the dominant genres of the time – grunge and nu-metal – but over the years the group has been a regular genre chameleon, moving past everything from death and black to groove and thrash. We look forward to them hitting COPENHELL 2025 in full force!
The iconic and charismatic metal frontman ABBATH is the epitome of raw black metal energy and has for many years helped set the standard for extreme metal. He is known for his corpse-painted face, intense guitar playing and icy vocals – and not least his heyday with the band Immortal. It is with the songs from this particular band that he will visit COPENHELL in 2025, where the audience can start looking forward to a very happy return with immortal black metal classics!
Screaming guitars. Sirens. Warnings. Thousands of marching steps. The intro to “No one can save you from yourself”, the newest album from the hardcore/metalcore legends WALLS OF JERICHO, shows with all imaginable clarity that the band has never given up the fight. After 20 years on stage, the quintet are definitely not ready to retire and keep their mouths shut: They love to rub salt into open wounds – there’s no sweetness to be found here! Metallic grandeur meets classic hardcore in a maelstrom of crazy riffs and huge breakdowns.

After a number of years as a singer in bands such as Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice as well as various experimental music projects, JULIE CHRISTMAS released her solo debut album, “The Bad Wife”, in 2010. A whole 14 years were to pass and guest appearances with, among others, Cult of Luna, before the idiosyncratic American musician released his next album, “Ridiculous and Full of Blood”, in 2024. The new album is an autobiographical release that covers the singer’s wide range, all the way from alt-pop to post-metal, thus providing a good insight into the universe that awaits during her concert at COPENHELL 2025. Expect to see genre conventions torn down and stomped on during a riveting concert of complex compositions and great musical versatility.
The folk rock phenomenon GÅTE has developed over the past decades into an important part of Norwegian music history with an incomparable fusion of traditional melodies, alluring lyrics and electric rock energy. The Trondhjem band became nationally known at the beginning of the 2000s, and the music pioneers’ popularity has since spread to the rest of the Nordic region. After a long hiatus of 12 years, the band reunited in 2017 and delighted fans and critics alike with their first new single in over a decade and the critically acclaimed album “Svevn”.
Ingenious metalcore meets the manga universe at French RISE OF THE NORTHSTAR, who combine wild riffs, hip-hop beats and Japanese aesthetics in a brutal and original concept. East meets West in their distinctive stylistic fusion of Shōnen manga, Japanese street fashion, 90s hardcore nostalgia and infectiously energetic metalcore, to which it is physically impossible to stand still. It’s a band with their very own identity and style – and not least music that tears the audience around hard!
Copenhagen-based GABESTOK is the epitome of the black metal spirit, where the raw, punk and burned-in expression is cultivated in an uncompromising, unpolished and smashed soundscape. The Danish-language texts drip with pitch-black humor and the misanthropy that characterizes the genre. Punk meets garage rock, black metal is paired with heavy metal, and it’s all sauced into a fondness for gothic horror films from the 70s and westerns. In other words, a genuine metal bastard who does not allow himself to be limited by either genres or expectations!
The seven-piece Australian cult band BATTLESNAKE stubbornly defies any attempt at description. The name could hardly get any heavier, and they deliver their heavy rock with clear nods to big names like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Queen, King Gizzard and Ghost – and plenty of winks in the eye. Pure classic rock ‘n’ roll has been ruled out when the band, wearing white satin robes and with a string of Monty Pythonesque giggles and irresistible charm, fire the retro cannon and send us all the way back to the cool and carefree eighties with their crazy hero music.
The Los Angeles quartet TETRARCH stands with one foot in groove-oriented nu-metal and the other in crippling hard hardcore. The music tastes of everything from Metallica, Trivium and Linkin Park to Lamb of God, Korn and Slipknot and effectively combines melodic passages with unbridled aggression. It’s intense modern metal with a monstrous sound that has won both the streaming audience and reaches far beyond the edge of the stage!
Copenhagen’s THROWE are known for their pitch-black, behavioral psychology and Danish-language dark hardcore, which leaves the audience soaked and smashed after every intense live performance. Torment, worship of powerlessness and the fight against the inner demons permeate the band’s ugly blackened hardcore, which speaks to the deepest darkness of the soul.
Over the years, Norwegian HEAVE BLOOD & DIE have been on an interesting musical journey that has taken them from regular metal towards a unique post-metal/post-punk expression.
